Elmer Aude Obituary

RACINE - Elmer Aude, 89, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints. He was born on June 5, 1917, to Justis and Alvina (nee: Block) Aude in Tower City, Iowa. On April 12, 1947, Elmer was united in marriage to Eleanore E. 'Petey' Petersen in Ogdensburg. Elmer served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Some of his favorite memories were of the time that he was stationed in England. There, he was the Jeep Driver for actor, Jimmy Stewart. Elmer started his 42-year career at Belle City Malleable Iron as a Molder, retiring as an Inspector. He loved gardening, fishing, bowling, was an avid reader, and a "pull tab aficionado." Surviving are a son Craig (Patty) Aude of Racine; daughter, Cher (Gene) Miller of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Craig Jr., Vinni, Amanda, Ricky (Lauren), Alex, Freddie (Lisa), and Andy; and two special nieces and a nephew that he raised as his own children, Darlene, Christine, and Eddy. Further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore on February 12, 2004; and son-in-law, Fred Fritchen on August 26, 2000. In keeping with Elmer's wishes, private services have taken place with burial at West Lawn Memorial Park. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Catherall, the nursing staff at All Saints, and Michelle and Jackie for the care and compassion given to our father.
