Helga Rasmussen

RACINE - Miss Helga Rasmussen, 98, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at Lincoln Lutheran Convalescent Center. She was born in Racine on April 7, 1908, to Niels and Karen (nee: Nielsen) Rasmussen. Miss Rasmussen was a 1933 graduate of Stout University. She began her teaching career in Cochran. Later moving back to Racine, Miss Rasmussen taught at McKinley Middle School, retiring in 1971. She had been a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and the Racine Business Professional Women. Miss Rasmussen served on the Lincoln Lutheran Residents Council and participated in many activities during her 18 years of residency there. She also loved to knit and read. She is survived by a niece, Mary (John) Bratt; nephew, Kenneth (Alice) Rasmussen; and cousins, Carla Burks, Michael (Barbara Webster) Burks, and Carol Burks. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Miss Rasmussen was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; her twin brother, Harold Rasmussen; and many aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at the Mound Cemetery Chapel on Friday, September 1, 2006, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Barrow officiating. There will be a visitation at the chapel on Friday before services from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church have been suggested.
