Margery Smith Obituary

Margery Jean "Marge" Smith

June 4, 1947 - January 22, 2025

Margery Jean "Marge" Smith, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at her home. Marge was born in Racine on June 4, 1947, daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (nee: Quinn) Smith.

Marge graduated from St. Catherine's High School "Class of 1965". She then went on to earn her teaching degree from Dominican College. In her younger years, Marge taught at Holy Name Grade School and then was employed with Lincoln Lutheran of Racine for many years. She also loved her time working and volunteering at Siena Center. Marge was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening around her home, loved her cats, and enjoyed helping other seniors in many ways.

Marge will be dearly missed by her brothers, James (Ketti) Smith, of Aurora, Colo., Joseph (Barbara) Smith, of Madison; niece and nephews, Ketti, David, Greg and Kevin; the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Kiesler.

Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 1, 2025. If you were not able to attend, you may view Marge's service on the funeral home website, www.meredithfuneralhome.com, select services and then Live Stream.

Memorials to Racine Dominican Mission Fund or Health Care Network have been suggested.

I am so sorry, Jim and Joe, to say that we didn't know of Marge's passing until five minutes ago! We had no idea. I just called Marcy in Kansas to tell her, and we both feel so bad. (We don't get the local paper so that's how we missed it.)
I would really have liked to talk with you. I talked to Marge not that long ago.
Please accept our condolences and know that we both will keep her in our prayers. God bless you and your families. Sue and Glenn Pfeiffer
