Remi Lema Obituary

RACINE - Remi A. Lema, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Hospice Alliance - Hospice House in Kenosha. A lifetime resident, Remi was born in Racine on May 9, 1935 to the late Adolf and Mary Louise (nee: Loontjens) Lema. On August 11, 1956 in St. Edward Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with Kathryn N. (nee: Fesko). With a profound work ethic, Remi was employed for many years by SC Johnson Wax. He was a faithful member of Spring Street Church of Christ. Among his interests, he enjoyed bowling, woodworking and, along with his adored wife, crafts. A gentle man who was known to be on the quiet side, Remi cherished the simple things in life and absolutely treasured being in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy of Racine; son, Remi A. (Theresa) Lema of Georgia; daughter, Sharilyn Forbes of Racine; daughter-in-law, Tami Lema of Yorkville; son-in-law, Scott Forbes of Racine; grandchildren, Bryan Lema, Lacy Lema, Amanda Ritter, Tommy (Tara) Nielsen, Amber (Lane) Parker, Kevin Nielsen, Ian (Kelly) Forbes and Kaylyn Forbes; great- grandchildren, Alex, Madison, Jordan, Kayla, Wyatt, Josh, Haley and Maddy; sister, Darlene (Rich) Larsen; sisters- in-law, Donna (Dave) Burdick and Jane Lema; brother-in-law, Chuck (Linda) Fesko; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Remi was preceded in death by his son, Gary Lema on April 21, 2011; brothers, Julius, Leo and Edward Lema; and sister, Madge McCarthy. A Memorial Service celebrating Remi's life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:00 pm in Spring Street Church of Christ, 6200 Spring Street, with Rev. Craig Bean. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 12 noon - 1 pm. In memory of Remi, memorials to Spring Street Church of Christ or to the family have been suggested. Dear family & friends, I want to let you know that I have received a call from God, who informed me that my new home is ready and that I could move in immediately. I know that you may think that it is kind of soon; but I have been sending up timber, packing up, and getting ready to go….something you all just didn't know. Well, my new home is finished and it's a beautiful sight to behold! It is located on an exclusive estate and it sits behind the Pearly Gates. Of course, the streets are paved of gold and every day is Sunday! I look forward to seeing you all again one day….be sure to travel safe on your journey. With love, Remi Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory 4600 County Line Rd. 552-9000 www.draeger-langendorf.com

I remember the good times when Remi worked on the Ev Bix's farm in the early 50's and pheasant hunting and riding around in his Stutebaker. We sure laughed a lot. Great guy!

My very deepest sympathy to your entire family. I was SO sad to learn of his passing. My father, Roy Soronen, my sister Pam Fowler and I all worked with Remi at SC Johnson on the Howe Street Campus. Remi was a kind, helpful guy, and a friend to everyone. Heaven has a new angel, that's for sure! Perhaps my dad and Remi are together right now catching up on old times! My prayers to each of you. - Kimra Moore

My thoughts and prayers are with the Lema family, they have lost a sweet man. I knew him as Mr. Lema, at the checkout lane at Piggly Wiggly- he was one of the few customers I got to know by name and he WILL sadly be missed. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Kathy, you and your family have our deepest sympathy for your loss. Remi worked with and for me on the Racine campus of SC Johnson. He was the hardest worker I had ever met. He was gentle in spirit and loving of heart and I will never forget him. Some day I hope to meet him again and know that he will happily show me around his new heavenly home. God Bless You & Keep You Always.
