Robert Root was my friend - many many years ago - when we both lived in Japan in the early 1960s. He was a wonderful young man.
What I especially liked about Robert was his smile. His smile lit up a room.
I posted my memory or Robert on William Root's Facebook page. I copy it here -------Bob was such a wonderful man. Bill [William Root] for you and your family --------------> When we lived in Japan - every day Bob and his friend [I will have to look in my year book for that friend's name] would stand in the hall [Zama High School] and if anyone looked sad - the two of them would run up to that person and start cracking jokes or just talking to that person until the person smiled - then they would move on to someone else. And that is what I remember about him the most - his smile and his kindenss to others.
