Adolph Stern

Stern, Adolph December 13, 2017, age 90, of Tucson, AZ. Dear husband of 64 years to Lorraine Stern (nee Lang). Loving father of Steve (Bobbi) Stern and Larry (Donnie) Stern. Adoring papa of Joshua, Cory, and Jeremy Stern; Jason (Elizabeth), Samantha, and Matthew Stern. Cherished brother of Emma Lee (the late Erwin) Merar. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Adolph was born on August 12, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Riverside High School, where he excelled both academically and in sports, especially football where he was an all-city offensive lineman. After high school, Adolph was drafted into the Army where he was selected to be part of a small, elite group of soldiers to serve as cryptologists decoding Japanese military communications in an effort to end the war. He was eventually shipped overseas and served in that capacity in the Pacific Theater until the end of the war. Upon returning home, Adolph attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following his graduation in 1951, he joined Standard Electric Supply Co., a long-standing Milwaukee company co-founded by his father David Stern in 1919. Adolph was instrumental in bringing many new innovations to the company and, under his direction, the company flourished to become one of the most respected names in his industry. In 1993, Adolph retired as President and later relocated to the Tucson area. Graveside services 2 PM Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Spring Hill Cemetery, 166 S. Hawley Ct., Milwaukee.
