Arthur Chadek Obituary

Arthur Charles Chadek

Chadek, Arthur Charles, a native of Woodruff, Wisconsin, and a long time resident of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, died in Tucson, Arizona, on January 4, 2021, after a brief illness as a result of complications that arose from the throat cancer surgery that he underwent in 1988.

He was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1971-1972. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he received Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture degrees. He obtained his Architectural license in 1979 and practiced as an architect for more than 40 years at several Milwaukee area firms.

As a youth, he excelled in football, wrestling and track. He loved to water ski, ice skate, played softball for 30 years, and rode motorcycles all of his adult life. He was a voracious reader, well-versed in American history, and loved to sketch and paint and to ride his recumbent bicycle all over the city where he chose to retire.

A kind and generous soul, with a wicked sense of humor, he will be sorely missed by those who came to know him over his lifetime.

Art is survived by his life partner, best friend and devoted confidant of 12 years, Barbara Jones, his sisters Bonnie Kittelsrud and Carol (Jim) Martin, his loving children, Lea Chadek and Dana Chadek, his nephews, Steve and John Kittlesrud, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delton King Chadek and Marjorie Elsie Chadek (Brandt), his late wife, Cherie Kay Claussen, and by Millie, his Russian Blue cat, and Patches, his beloved beagle.

In lieu of flowers or other tributes, memorial donations may be made to your local Humane Society or animal rescue shelter.

Very sad to hear that Art passed away, a really wonderful man and an excellent architect and collaborator. I had been out of touch for a long time and tried to reach out, only to find this news. This is long overdue, but I wanted to share my sincere condolences for your loss. Rest in peace Art.

I knew Art via his late wife Cherie and her late sister, Lynn, my best friend. I just discovered Arts´ death this evening when it occurred to me that I hadn't heard from him after an email I had sent a few months ago because Art always answered back. I googled his name and saw his obituary. This is sad news. My heart goes out to Barbara and his kids, Lea and Dana.
This is a special family to me and I will remember them always.

When I was in the Army MPs in 1971 a group of new people arrived at Fort Ritchie. One of them was Art and we became friends from then on. After we got out of the Army I came up to Milwaukee from Chicago to visit Art. Eventually I moved to Milwaukee because I liked it here better than Chicago. He married Cherie and they had 2 wonderful children. I'm Dana's god-father. I was never as successful at careers as Art was, but he always welcomed me to his house for Packer games etc. I will miss him, and I'm glad to have been Art's friend for all these years.
