Curt Weber Obituary

Curt M Weber

Curt M. Weber, age 64 of Wauwatosa was born to Eternal Life on November 19, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents, Curt H. and Lois A. Weber. Survived by extended family and friends. Curt was a graduate of Marquette University and earned his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University. He was a lawyer in private practice prior to beginning a career in academia, ending his career as a professor at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Over the years, he enjoyed many international travel opportunities with his students and fellow faculty. Of his many hobbies and interests, Curt enjoyed music including playing trumpet, books, antique cars, and was a connoisseur of fine scotch and good beer. He was a longtime member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church. Next time you hear a good horn section, please pause and give thanks for knowing Curt. His humorous statements, full of dry wit, will be greatly missed. He was truly a kind and gentle person. A memorial service for Curt will be held at 12 p.m. Noon on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue in Wauwatosa. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wauwatosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the music ministry at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church or Tosa Cares food pantry appreciated.

It's been a while but I still think of him at least once a week. I still miss his trumpet playing, humor, great advice and friendship. There is a void that can't be filled.

Worse than having a good friend pass is not knowing it happened until 5 months later. Curt touched many lives and i thank God that i had him as a friend. My wife Jill and sons Danny and Jamey are also gutted by this news.

You are missed my friend.

I traveled to Ireland many years ago with Curt. I took my 9 month old daughter with me. He was SO good with her. She loved sitting on his lap and often fussed if she didn't get to sit with him at dinner. I have a photo of her on his lap, her little hand stretched out, and her fingers grasping the top edge of his Guiness. He was already introducing her to what he considered the finer things in life. :)

I knew Curt and his parents from their time at Hope Lutheran where they were very, very involved. Mrs. Weber ran the Sunday school program forever, Mr. Weber was into everything and I still remember Curt playing that trumpet on special occasions. Haven't heard one in there since.
3 of us guys in confirmation class were having a hard time keeping up with the rest of the class and instead of just giving up on us somehow Pastor Koch suckered Curt into giving us a special instruction class.
That was a great fit as he was maybe only 6 years older than us.
Probably half the time we talked cars and the other half what we were supposed to be doing. Took us a couple extra years but we got through it!
Haven't seen Curt since his mom's funeral. Stopped over at the house a few times randomly hoping to catch him there but having opposite schedules he was never home. My wife and I were supposed to get together some night for dinner with him as I promised a long time ago and I was just thinking of calling him last week and I saw the notice.
Was really looking forward to talking with him again.
Will really miss you Curt. Thanks for all you did and someday we'll see you again.

What a joy it was to know Curt. So many great stories, told with a playful wit, employing just the right amount of sharp irony when needed. He was a dear friend, a valued colleague, a discerning sounding board; a skilled business law lecturer who understood and appreciated the transcendent value of the arts and humanities; a person of faith. I’m very glad to have had him as a friend.

Curt Mike was my first cousin - my Dad’s (Helmut Ernst Weber) little brother’s only child. We Weber’s were never that close to our other family relatives, but when I did see Curt Mike and his Mom Lois and Dad Curt, I really enjoyed his sense of humor. My sister Connie and I visited Curt Mike at his UW-Whitewater office a couple years ago - he was so much fun and really knew all about our family roots! Much more than Connie or I never knew! We Weber’s wish him to Rest In Peace with all his family members and friends in Heaven. God Bless You Curt Mike.

I have known Curt for over 50 years. I became friends with Curt when we both were in 2nd grade. I have fond memories of playing together in the tree house in his backyard apple tree, while his father worked in the garage, restoring his vintage Ford Model T. Looking back, it was such a simple time. After collage, we didn't connect as much. However, each time we met I found him to be the same well meaning Curt. And, I left each of our conversations with a greater respect for him. He was always kind and well meaning and tried to do the right thing. I will miss and remember him, but I take comfort in knowing that he is now with his parents.

Curt will be greatly missed. Friend, his honest sense of humor, plus the sarcasm. Plus his love of soup!!!

You could always count on Curt to make you laugh and cheer you up with his witty humor and pranks. He would never miss an opportunity to tell you a funny story and make you smile. He will be greatly missed in the halls and classrooms of UWW.

Curt was a dear friend of my husband, Michael Geisheker, from Marquette days. His wonderful spirit and jokes and intelligence will be sorely missed. Condolences to his remaining friends and extended family. With love from Teresa and Michael, Houston.

I remember Curt.

Most of these memories are shared with many other mutual friends. These places and events were undoubtedly shared with many of you at other times and places when I was not present.

Curt and I (and many of you) have a special connection that can only be shared by musicians. We are privileged to be members of that special group who make ourselves and others boundlessly happy through the performance of music. Our special unique insights into all arts and performances has created a brotherhood between us that is like no other.

These memories span at least 35 years to date:

Trumpet duets with Curt at his parents’ home.
Trumpet duets with Curt at Dianne’s and my home.
Auditioning trumpets in Chicago
Auditioning trumpets at my studio
Curt is a guest for the day at our home (an honor)
Performing countless concerts together in jazz rehearsal bands all over Milwaukee (We Laughed Until We Cried)
Countless rehearsals and performances of musicals at Thomas More H.S. and St. Mary’s Academy (WLUWC)
Very late after rehearsals/after performances tavern parties with good beer and pizza (WLUWC)
Rusty nails, liver sausage/horseradish platters and cigars at Roberts’ Tavern on Howell Ave., Mil. (WLUWC)
Super cheap rusty nails at The Slinger House (in Slinger WI) until they ran out of drambuie. (WLUWC)
Amateur nights at Ricky’s Strip Joint on Wells St. in Mil. (WLUWC)
Beer and pizza or lasagna at Frank and Audrey Brennan’s (WLUWC)
Rehearsals and performances with The Kewaskum Big Band and Hi Horns (Curt was looking forward to more.)

We never enjoyed life more than when we were with Curt.
