Erickson, Derek John "D.J." Was born to Eternal Life on December 6, 2013, at the age of 42. Loving son of David and Fabby Erickson. Preceded in death by his mother Sharon Erickson. Beloved brother of Diana (Keith) Lange, Dave Erickson, Cherie (Tom) Altman, Patrick McAndrew, Shannon (Jose) Lara, Laura (Keith) Simon, Lori (Rick) Flynn, and Jon Miller. Proud uncle to Pepe, Eric, Samanth, Azriel, Travis, Caleb, Nick, Kayla, Trisha, Hannah, Quincy, Will, and Abigail. Also survived by grandmother Marge Wangen, aunts, uncles and other family and friends. Preceded in death by grandparents John Wangen, Adolph and Cora Erickson and other aunts and uncles. His kind-hearted soul will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM with a service to follow on Friday, December 13, at Stokes and Mundt, 535 South Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona. Cremation burial for family will be on Saturday, December 14, at Forest Hill Cemetery.

We were at McGillicutty's in 2002 when Derek came up to us and said “Hey don't you live in my building?” Turns out we did and became fast friends, he helped up move twice and went to a bunch of Brewers Games. The last time we moved, he did too and we lost touch. We had some really fun times and will remember his name with a smile. With our deepest sympathy.

DJ was a good friend. I worked with him for about a year at Steny's. He closed the kitchen most nights that I closed the bar and EVERY night after clocking out, he would stick around to help me close the bar. He house sat for me and took care of my dog. We lost touch after one or both of us left Steny's. I ran into him once after that and he looked great. I really regret not tracking him down and reconnecting with him. My condolences go out to his family.

DJ will be missed. The Erickson's were great neighbors to grow up with, the kids were almost the same ages as us [the Kearney's] and had many fun times. Lots of great memories. I'm so sorry for the Families loss and will say many prayers.

DJ you are sorely missed but my faith tells me that you are with your mom and that gives me peace. My favorite memories are when Steve & I would call out of the kitchen at Steny's and get a quick chance to visit but most recently and one of my best is when you were able to join us in our Halloween party. You were so happy and expressed how much fun you were having and "didn't realize how much fun we all were," That will warm my heart forever. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER!
