Mark Duane Erickson

Mark Duane Erickson age 74, of Glendive, Montana passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at his home in Glendive. A Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the First Congregational Church in Glendive. Interment will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mark was born on October 27, 1951 in Glendive to his parents Duane and Susan (Brenner) Erickson. He was raised and educated in Glendive and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1969. While in high school Mark was a member of the Red Devil Track team. Following high school, he attended Eastern Montana College (MSU-Billings) in Billings, Montana before returning to Glendive where he completed his education at Dawson Community College. Mark worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for a few years before beginning his career with the City of Glendive, where he worked for twenty-five years. Mark read many, many water meters in Glendive and never failed to make it home for lunch to watch Days of Our Lives. After his retirement, Mark tried a new venture and went to work at Good-Will. This job venture was one of his best, as he always said he met and worked with some of the best people around.

Mark was united in marriage to Sandy Saunders on August 9, 1974, in Glendive and to this union two children, Stephanie and Chad, were born. They later separated but remained friends.

Mark served two terms on the Glendive City Council, was a past member of the Glendive Search and Rescue, the Bell Street Bridge Committee, Red Devil Booster Club and the Glendive Elks.

Mark loved music and played the drums in several bands. He played in his first band in 8th grade called the Sands of Time and became a founding member of The Looker Band. He loved going to concerts and bringing along all his friends. He was a Montana Grizzlies fan; he had impeccable penmanship and had one of the most memorable and infectious laughs. Mark was known for giving everyone a nickname and always keeping a sparkling clean vehicle. Above everything else, he loved being social, especially with his family and many friends. He cherished the time spent with his children and grandson.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; Duane and Susan Erickson, all his grandparents and his favorite dog Marty.

Mark is survived by his children, Stephanie (Eric) Larson of Bismarck, North Dakota and Chad Erickson of Dickinson, North Dakota; three grandchildren, Grayson, McKenzie and Griffin; two brothers, Scott (Dawn) Erickson of Lakeland, Florida and Todd (Tammy) Erickson of Glendive and two nieces, Megan (Brandon) Scheetz and Kelsey (Shane) Lackman. He was also blessed with an honorary son, Scott Athas.
