Pearce Fatzinger

Pearce Tomkins Fatzinger was born on September 6, 1927, in Miles City, Montana to Grace and Victor Fatzinger. They moved to the Bloomfield area where Pearce then lived, farmed and raised cattle. He lived there the rest of his life. He graduated from Dawson County High School. During his high school years, he boarded with his brothers in Glendive. He saved enough money working at the Albrecht coal mine to travel with friend Leslie Unruh. After the war ended, they travelled to Chicago, where they each bought a new car.

Pearce married Joeclyn (Jackie) Heil October 6,1950, in Glendive, Montana. He is survived by daughters Audree (Lowell) Dietz, Sequim Washington, Diane Fatzinger, Sequim Washington, and Janet Fatzinger, Bloomfield Montana.

He taught adult Sunday school, served on several community boards including South Valley School, Bloomfield Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Richey Alliance Church, Bloomfield Farmers Union station, and Richey Farmers Union elevator. He also measured acreage and bins for the Dawson County ASCS. Pearce loved ice cream, pie, and farming (even harvesting on his 90th birthday). Over several years he enjoyed traveling to the west, southwest, and Wisconsin with his nephews Robert and Roy Fatzinger, niece Florene Green, and sister-in-law Florence Fatzinger. After visiting Southern California with Robert, Pearce commented, "The rides were better at Knott's Berry Farm than they were at Disneyland." He regularly visited with friends, neighbors, and relatives in person and by phone and mail. Opportunities to gather with family were especially important to him. We offer a very special thanks to Roy and Carol Fatzinger and family for every hour of fellowship, care, and prayers. Dad thought highly of each of you.

After his brother George died, Pearce made weekly trips to Glendive to take George's wife Cathy to hair appointments, grocery shopping, and lunches, happily returning with a bounty of Cathy's home baked goods. He enjoyed playing Rook, The Game of 99, as well as touring hydroelectric dam facilities, a Ford assembly plant, state capitals, The Queen Mary II, and a Trident class submarine.

In the fall of 2021, he entered care at the McCone County Healthcare facility in Circle, Montana. Thank you to the staff there for their excellent care.

He went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. A memorial service is planned for spring 2026. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with arrangements.
