Gladys Glaser, 91, of
Glendive, Montana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, at Miller Pointe Nursing Home in Mandan, North Dakota, surrounded by the love of family.
Gladys was born on October 7, 1934, in
Glen Ullin, North Dakota, to Barbara (Doll) Emter and Michael Emter. She was raised in Glen Ullin, where she learned early the values of hard work, faith in family, and looking out for others. As one of many children, she helped on the family farm and often shared stories of growing up in a busy household, including her favorite memory of how special it felt to be the first to take a bath when everyone shared the same water.
After graduating from high school, Gladys moved to Dickinson, North Dakota, where she worked at a local restaurant. It was there that she met Clarence Glaser, the man who would become her soulmate and life long partner. They were united in marriage on October 8, 1953, in Glen Ullin, and shared more than 61 years of marriage until Clarence's passing in January of 2015. Together they raised five children in Glendive Montana: Sandy, Kathy, Jeff, Kelvin, and Todd, building a home filled with laughter, love, and strong family bonds.
Gladys found joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life. She took great pride in her canning, and her well-known apple pies, which were made with love and shared generously. Family gatherings often centered in her kitchen, where she became famous for making her beloved "shoopies,".
Gladys's sense of humor was truly her own- unique, and capable of bringing laughter to any room. She took pride in always looking her best and especially loved getting her hair done. No matter the occasion, Gladys could often be found fixing her hair, making sure it was just right. And if you were lucky enough, you knew she gave the very best kisses-the kind filled with love and warmth.
Gladys and Clarence built a life filled with cherished memories. They especially enjoyed traveling together with Tom and Marje Emter in the RV creating moments that Gladys admired. In her later years, she looked forward to pizza nights with Jerry & Corrine Glaser and Bob & Bev Helman. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, leading rosaries at the VA nursing home with her special friend Dianne Franks.
Above all else, Gladys lived for all of her family. They were her greatest joy and the light of her life. She loved them unconditionally and made sure they always knew it-through her stories, her love, her kisses, and her presence. Her heart was generous, her love endless, and her family meant everything to her.
Gladys is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Paul) Bartholomew of Dickinson, North Dakota, and Kathy Glaser of Bismarck, North Dakota; her sons, Jeff Glaser (CeCe) of Dickinson, North Dakota, Kelvin Glaser of Gillette, Wyoming, and Todd (Wendy) Glaser of Glasgow, Montana; her sister, Delphie Horner; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Though Gladys will be deeply missed, her stories, her humor, and her gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she has been reunited in heaven with her husband, Clarence, once again together.
