Sandra Glaser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Jan. 25, 2026.
Sandra Elizabeth (Swol) Glaser, 80, of Wallingford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, with her daughters by her side. Born in Middletown on November 18, 1945, she was the fifth of six children born to the late John and Zaza (Wilcox) Swol. Throughout her childhood, Sandra moved frequently between Middletown and New Haven, and eventually settled in Wallingford, where she raised her family.

Sandra, known to most as Sandy, was a truly loving and kind person. Although she didn't have much, she was always willing to give or share anything she had with those in need. Sandy's greatest achievement was raising her three children-Chrissy, Shelly, and Stacey-as a single divorced mom. She did everything she could to provide for them, including offering childcare for ten or more children in her home for other working mothers when her children were young. As her kids grew older, she worked as a typesetter for close family friends. In April of 1986, she proudly earned her GED from Wallingford Adult Education, just before her oldest daughter, Christine, graduated from Lyman Hall in June of that same year. After completing her education, Sandy went on to work for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in North Haven as a claims analyst until her retirement in 2010.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Christine (Glaser) Morris and her husband, David of Winsted, and Shelly (Glaser) McNulty of Prospect. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara (Swol) Cappello of North Carolina, and her seven grandchildren: Trevor Aresta, Teresa Aresta, Eireann McNulty, Meaghan McNulty, Shannyn McNulty, Elizabeth Aresta, and Sean McNulty, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Stacey (Glaser) Aresta, who passed away in June 2020. Additionally, she is predeceased by her sisters Janet (Swol) Hirsch and Helen (Swol) Malicki, her brothers John and Paul Swol, and her long-term partner Robert J. Donlon. Sandra will be missed by her Thursday night friend group, who fondly referred to her as "Safe Sandy" due to her unexplained luck during their weekly LRC games.

A memorial service will be held at the Wallingford Elks Lodge #1365, located at 148 South Main Street, Wallingford, on February 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home at 809 North Main Street, Wallingford, CT.In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations in her name be made to Connecticut Foodshare:
