Earl Richter Obituary

Richter, Earl Edward Age 83, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Hospice House in Kenosha. Earl was born in Twin Lakes, WI on October 16, 1923 to John and Emma (Nee Kautz) Richter. On September 12, 1943, Earl married his high school sweetheart, Carlista Mae Dean. A graduate of Wilmont High School in 1941, Earl went on to the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Unfortunately World War II came between Earl and college. In 1943, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and in 1944 he was sent overseas to the Pacific Theatre where he served in Saipan and Guam. Earl returned home from the war in 1945 and finished his degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was employed by Modine Manufacturing Company spanning over 42 years of service. Having held various positions at Modine, he retired in December of 1990 as CEO. Earl was a member of the Racine Country Club and Somerset. He was very community minded and had served on many business and community boards. He was an avid golfer and fisherman but most of all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and papa. He will be dearly missed. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Carlista; his son, Robert (Sandra) Richter of Racine; 4 grandchildren, Robin (Michael) Polzin and their children, Michaela, Delaney and Callahan; Raquel (Joe) Fallico and their children, Macy and Jacob; Lisa Lund Rondan and her son, Phillip; Scott (Aimee) Lund and their children, Carlista and Charles; a sister, Jean (James) Potts of Elkhorn, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Earl was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Phillip) Lund, his parents, and a sister, Margaret. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home 4-7 P.M. Private services will be held with interment at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society have been suggested. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Dr, Michael Mullane and his staff and the staff of Hospice House for their loving and compassionate care. Earl was a wonderful corporate officer at Modine. The Company really grew and prospered under his leadership. I always enjoyed any interaction I had with him in my tenure at Modine.
