Dear Jeanne, 4/7/10
My name is Lisa Stoffel, a caregiver @ Kettle Moraine Gardens where your father was living with your mother, Anita. He will be deeply missed by many! Erv was my german speaking friend who loved to sing with me, to recall a couple songs, You are my Sun Shine, and my favorite Silent Night, Erv would sing Silent Night in german as I would sing it in english- it was lovely! Erv helped me with my german lessons, I am trying to teach myself german which is right up his alley of expertise. We talked about Trier, Germany and Baden,Baden Germany, places he was familiar with and where my family tree originated. Your dad had a special nick name for Anita it was 'Shnookums' which is the same my father had for my mother- it was awesome to hear that nick name spoken, reminding me of how much my dad loved my mom. Experiencing the loss of my father in 2000 was/is difficult so I can understand such a loss. May in time you and your loved ones find peace of mind and heart through the many memories you share of your father, Erwin. I'm grateful for the time I was given to care for Erv! I was unable to attend Erv's funeral, but I heard that your mother, Anita sang word for word the songs selected to honnor Erv- there was not a dry eye in sight! May God continue to bless and keep you and your family of loved ones safe within His arms.
