Frederick Domer Obituary
Domer, Frederick Charles We give him back to you O Lord, Who first gave him to us, as You did not lose him in the giving, so we do not lose him in the return. Fred, a former Whitefish Bay resident, died July 18. 2010, in the comfort of his home in Somers, Connecticut. A beloved son, born March 20, 1942, to Dorothy Domer (Niles) and the late Dr. Frederick F. Domer of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Fred recieved his Bachelors of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Parks School of Technology, St Louis University. He enjoyed a 32 year career as an engineer with Pratt Whitney Aircraft. He was especially proud of his position as a technical advisor to the legal department during the last ten years of his employment. He was and always will be a beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Kay (Otto) of Somers, CT; daughter, Jennifer Schuetz and her husband Andre of South Orange, NJ; son Michael Domer and his wife Tina of Elk RIver, MN; grandchildren Alexander, Jasper and Sylvie Schuetz and Thomas P. and Jason Domer. Also surviving are his sister Margaret Mary Domer Johnson of Portland, OR, brothers Thomas and wife Mary of Shorewood, WI; William and wife Randee Zitelman of Glendale, WI; John and wife Roxanne of Brookfield, WI and Joseph and wife Jeannie of Glendale, WI. In addition, his Uncle Farrell Niles, Cudahy, WI, and Aunt Harriet Westcott, Elm Grove, WI along with many loving relatives and cousins by the dozens are saddened by his passing. Fred's earlier years in Whitefish Bay were filled with winter trips to the ice skating rink at Cahill Square, Boy Scout activities, his paper route and building, then flying gas powered model airplanes at Lincoln Park. Fred was in the first graduating class of Holy Family grade school (1956) and Dominican High school (1960). The following excerpts from the eulogy delivered by his brother Tom says it all: "We have a close-knit family, his sister, brothers and sisters-in-law keep in regular contact. Outsiders marvel that the 6 siblings have gathered for a three day golf outing for the last 18 years to destroy the greenery, and eat junk food while chasing a little white ball all over Fox Hills in Mishicot, WI." As the Ojibwe tell us...It is every man's responsibility to so walk the sun's trail, that he honors those that walked before him, honors those that walk with him and is honored by those who walk after him. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2PM on July 23, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, in Enfield, CT. Memorials to Dominican High School are appreciated.
