Lorna and The Tamms Family, So sad and sorry for your loss. Fred was a co-worker at the UWM Bookstore many years ago, and Lorna for many years not that long ago. We were happy they eventually found each other. Bookstore couples are the best. Love, Marc and Lisa

I too had worked with Fred in the late 70's at Schaak Electronics, which helped me finance my college education, starting in September of 1976. Fred was just 18; I was 26 and I had absolutely no experience in selling electronic equipment. Fred took me under his wing and helped me sell a lot of equipment. There were the many times when I was having problems with a sale and Fred would step in and negotiated the final deal. Because we were on commission, I'd always ask him if we could split the sale. Fred said “no, just learn from what I did and you'll be a better salesman down the road”. And it's true that at closing time he would put an album on the finest turntable, the loudest amplifier, and the most expensive speakers (they were JBL's) and turn it up to the max. When the music was on I can picture seeing Fred closing his eyes, imitating a guitar with his arms and have the most happiness smile on his face. I'll never forget the time when he did that one night and the general manager of the mall came to the store and demanded that the music be turned off. Fred took the manager out of the store and said “we sell sound. I'm trying out a new system and I need to evaluate it”. He took one look at Fred and left and the music remained on until the album finished. I can also remember many a weekend night that I'd leave the store with my ears numb with the loud music coming from it. Fred was truly a person which many of us should remember.

I worked with Fred in the late 70's at Northridge - Schaack Electronics. Was a pleasure to work with - the world just lost another great guy.

I first met Fred when he was 21 and I was 19. Being much older and wiser than I in those days, Fred became my friend and mentor, enlightening me with his love of music, his humor, and his compassion. I later became an engineer, in part, because Fred so passionately believed it was the coolest profession ever. Fred remains the only person I have known that used "cool" and "engineer" in the same sentence.
I have many fond memories of Fred, but some I remember best were during our days together selling stereos at Schaak electronics. At closing time we would put an album on the finest turntable, the loudest amplifier, and the most expensive speakers and turn it up to 11. We would dance and sing at the top of our lungs to Elvis Costello, Neil Young, the Stranglers, and Freds favorite Pure Prairie League.
Fred made a difference in my life like few have. Fred you are forever my friend.

Fred was my moms friend and the love of her life. They argued about who was luckier to have the other.. They were both so lucky to have each other. Fred was Riley's buddy and they had a blast together.

Even in death you live on in the hearts of those who love you. We will always love you, Fred.

My siblings and I knew Fred as a neighbor, classmate, and friend. We have many fond childhood memories. Fred was a top student, especially in science and math, and we looked up to him. And he was always the most gracious and helpful neighbor; He will be dearly missed.
