George Brunt Obituary

Brunt, George F. Age 55, left this life on February 20th, 2007 in Bradenton, Florida after long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Originally from Milwaukee and one of four children, parents Betty and Louis Brunt (both deceased), George lived for many years in Florida while traveling far and wide, often with his wife Jackie. After graduating from Washington High in Milwaukee, he became a master in the game of billiards and pocket billiards. George won many tournaments as he dazzled fans with his unflappable concentration and dominating table skills. He will always be remembered by those who loved the game as the person who brought respect and integrity to the game of pool. His easy going charm and wit will also be fondly remembered by all of those he touched. George's lively conversation, debate, gift for story telling and most importantly his genuine empathy for others will never be forgotten. For it's here that George seemed to understand something that we all could learn from. The world was made larger by his presence as he willingly attempted to understand others point-of-view while keeping a ready smile and boisterous laugh at hand for all to bathe in. Those that had the privilege of crossing his path will resurrect his memory with some measure of smile no doubt bringing George happiness as he rests in peace. He is survived and loved by many friends and family including his beloved wife Jackie, daughters Kimberly (Mike) Taylor of Germantown and Julia of Milwaukee, sister Elizabeth of Milwaukee, brothers William (Heather) of Naples, Florida and Chris (Laura) of New York City, in-laws Gwen, Sandra and Charles, grandchildren Luke, Kristin and Lindsay, dear family friend Dorothy Stelzel of Milwaukee, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Hospice of your choice. Happy trails George, we love you.

George has touched and entertained so many lives. You always walked away from a conversation with George with a smile on your face. I will always remember his animated, but carefree story-telling. Add one of his brothers to the mix and you were entertained for hours. He was surrounded by a lot of people that loved him. My love and deepest sympathies to the whole family. He will be missed greatly! Thanks for the stories, George!

I never met George but I heard many wonderful things about him from my friend Elizabeth. I always wanted to know what he thought about something or other because he seemed to understand things so well. He could make the complicated so simple. I know you all will miss him. I send my heartfelt sympathy to all of you.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Brunt family. My dearest friend Elizabeth shared her love for her brother George with me often. I find comfort that he is now playing in the ULTIMATE pool tournament right now as I think of him. Have a blast George !!!

I'll always remember fondly the times I spent with George and all of the amazing pool matches I witnessed. One memory I never forgot was after George had played in Las Vegas,I asked how he had done. George said, "I came in last". A week later I read in the Billard news that he had placed second in the tournament. I saw him a few days later and asked why he told me he came in last. George responded, "Second place, third place, and last... I didn't win". That was George, always understating his greatness.
That's the true champion I'll always remember. He will be truly missed.

I happen to be a good friend of Mike Taylor, Kim's husband. Early on in their relationship, I had the pleasure of being introduced to George and Jackie while they were staying in Milwaukee. I don't recall the occasion (as if we needed one), but Mike and I were taken out on the town with George. He was such a fun guy, and that night was memorable. Not for any particular reason, but for the sum of it. I recall laughs, some pool lessons, and good times. I didn't have the pleasure of spending a lot of time with George over the years, however, the few moments we shared were memorable. Isn't it all about quality, and not quantity? Cheers, George! And all my love to the family.

I know that anyone who knew George would have a fond memory to share. Mine was on our trip to New York. He and his brother Chris had Kim and I up laughing all night at their many funny stories!! He was a wonderful person and left us all with nothing but good memories. May the family cherish those memories forever and when they think of George, remember his great smile and how he would want to see all of us smiling back! To all of George's family, we extend our deepest sympathies.

George was the older brother of my best friend in grade school, Elizabeth. He taught me what it meant to be cool at a young age. I have reminenced many "Brunt" stories to my students throughout the years. As I was told if it was was cool," I learned it from the Brunts". Thanks for the stories, pool leasons, and James Brown dances in the basement on Elliot Circle. You truly will be remembered fondly.

I knew Kimberly and family from when Kimberly and I were little kids. I lived downstairs from them.

I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the family.

Kimberly e-mail me at [email protected] to contact me.

I go back to Junior league bowling with the Brunt family. At times I would accompany George, Bill and others to billiard halls and marveled at George's ability under pressure.I often wondered about the family over the last 40 or so years. I'm saddened to learn of George's passing at such a young age.

I had the pleasure of meeting George three or four times and you would have thought I had known him all my life. He was a jovial man with a huge heart and a kind word to all. He loved his family so.
George will be missed terribly by all who have ever crossed his path.
