It was a shock to read about Aunt Gertrude's passing. I tried calling and the phone was disconnected. My husband, Todd Nalepinski, was John and Aunt Gertrude's nephew. We loved to go visit her when we were able and she always sent half a carload of baked goodies home with us. She was a grand lady, knew her mind, and wasn't afraid to tell you what she thought. Todd and Aunt Gertie would get into some great discussions and he would tease her and boy, she could hold her own. Now it's Todd, Uncle John and Aunt Gertie up there giving directions..well Aunt Gertie anyway..Bet God is saying yes ma'am, anything you say ma'am and I bet He is enjoying her decadent baked goods. Rest in Peace dear Aunt Gertrude.

John & Gertrude were friends of my parents way back when. In fact, John was my youngest brother's godfather. I have fond memories of visiting at their home. They didn't have children, so when we visited it was a special treat - especially to sit in the living room and be able to sit on the upholstered "lounge chair" that vibrated and also warmed up. Gertrude was a wonderful woman and I know she's reconnecting with John and my parents at this very moment.

She was a kind and very wonderful teacher at St. John Kanty. School was fun and informative in 1968. It's interesting to note it's 50 years this year we graduated from 8th grade.
