Hermann Viets Ph.D.

Viets Ph.D., Hermann Hermann Viets Ph.D., 74, of Wickford, RI and Palm Desert, CA, died at home on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the Rev. Pamela (Deane) Viets. Born in Quedlinburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Otto Hartmann & Herta (Heik) Hartmann Viets and adopted son of Hans Viets. Dr. Viets was the President Emeritus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and served as Chairman of the Board for AstroNova of Warwick, RI and Precision Stamping Inc. of Beaumont, CA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wickford. In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children: Danielle B. Leighton & her husband Michael of St. Cloud, MN, Deane A. Viets & his wife Izabella of Freiburg, Germany, Hans H. Viets & his wife Lauren of Brooklyn, NY, & Hillary H.V. Bowser & her husband Andrew of Muskego, WI. He was the beloved grandfather of Samuel S. Leighton, Leonardo S. Viets, Alexander J. Viets, Naomi K. Viets, Ani C. Viets, Hilda A. Bowser, Rowan A. Bowser, & Tannen B. Bowser. He was the brother of Frauke Roth & her husband Keith of North Andover, MA and the late Hildegard Ebner. His Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 at 1:00 pm in The First Baptist Church in Wickford, 44 Main Street. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Milwaukee School of Engineering, University of Rhode Island International Engineering Program, First Baptist Church in Wickford or HistWick will be appreciated.
