Irvin Waupoose Obituary

Waupoose, Irvin James Sr. Age 75, a longtime resident of Butler, went home to the arms of our Lord while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on the Menominee Indian Reservation to Alexander and Josephine (nee Warrington) Waupoose. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon (Grignon) Waupoose, they were married for the past 52 yrs. Dear father to Yvonne (Dr. Manuel) Ramos, Irvin Jr. (Special Friend Laura Hocevar) James, Gerald (Special Friend, Hon. William Pocan) and grandfather to Joshua and Jennifer. He is further survived by brothers, Ivan (Janice) Waupoose, Milwaukee, Lowell Waupoose, Keshena, Jerome Waupoose, Keshena; sister, Leila Rabideaux, Keshena, Rosemary (Robert) Gengler, Keshena, Antoinette (Warren) Wilber, Keshena, Leatha (Greg) Grinhaug, Bowler; in-laws, Connie Waupoose, Jeanine Waupoose, Jean Marie Waupoose and John Hayes; as well as his other in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Gordon Sr, Everette, Xavier, Alex Jr. Leroy, Edward and Kenneth; Sisters: Vivian, Delores Koszarek, Romilda Wilson, Patricia Hayes, and Gloria Herrera. Outside of God, his family and friends, one of his greatest joys in life was playing his musical instruments - fiddle, guitar, and banjo followed by "jigging", both of which have been long-time family traditions. Furthermore, his love of music was seen in his dancing. He was once known as the "Fred Astaire" of Flandreau Indian School, South Dakota. His sense of humor and story-telling brought may smiles and laughter. His physical agility (aerial acrobatics), well into old age, brought surprise and amazement. A Visitation will be held July 12, 2010, from 4PM, until the time of the 6PM Funeral Mass at St. Agnes, Butler. Visitation will also occur on July 14, 2010, from 3PM until the time of the final Funeral Mass at 11AM, on July 15, 2010, at St. Anthony, Neopit, WI, on the Menominee Indian Reservation. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Neopit, WI.

My prayers are with my family during this difficult time. Uncle will always be remembered with a smile on his face. I am so glad that I was able to see him on his last visit home. I will miss listening to him play his fiddle. But I know that he is now playing in Heaven with Grandpa and his brothers. Love and Miss You!!
