To Jimmy Quarto's family
I was introduced to Jimmy by Joe Campagna in early 2001 after it was announced that he was going to be Festa Italiana's Executive Director for 2001. After having the privilege to be a Festa Manager under his leadership, I was able to experience what a class act this man was. Although I am only 33 years old, I was heavily involved in Festa for 20 years, from 1986 to 2005. Through my many years of serving Festa and the Italian Community Center, I can tell you he was one of the most competent and genuine individuals I have ever dealt with at Festa. I could tell from day one that this man was the "real deal" when it came to being a man. He is truly someone I model myself after. Your family will always be proud of you.

Jimmy,
We did not know each other for very long but we connected and I considered you a true friend. When I talked you listened and you were always sincere. You made everyone feel special. You were concerned about others. Whether it was your trainer, your friends smoking too much and of course your family's well being. I will miss our "lunches" and especially at Olive Garden with our mutual love for Eggplant. You will be missed by many. I am fortunate to have known you, I am better for it but there is a void now. I willl miss you.

Distance kept us from knowing Jim as well as we would have liked to…but from Pat’s stories and from the few times we did manage to get together I know he was a kind and loving man, father and grandfather. One of my special memories of Jim was when he came to New England in 1996 – my daughter was celebrating her 13th birthday and Jim volunteered to make a genuine Italian dinner for the party. He even went so far as having us take him to Boston’s North End so he could buy fresh ingredients for all the dishes he planned to make. The day of the party, I felt so guilty because it was July and very hot and he was in the kitchen all day cooking (with Pat as his assistant, of course). The party was a tremendous success mainly because of the delicious food – it was one of those special days that my family thinks back on with very fond memories. We’ll miss you Jim, may the Lord enfold you in his mercy and may you find eternal life. Debbie, Jim, Eric and Jen

Dear family – I will always treasure the Holidays and events spent in Cecil at Suzanne’s house. The food, the wine, the songs, the games, and the hugs made me feel right at home and so very welcome as Suzanne’s ‘orphaned’ friend. Papa Jim, as the kids affectionately called him, was always so very devoted to all his family; especially his grandchildren. He set a great example of how to love. He had such a twinkle in his eye as he would stir up a family discussion and then turn and wink as conversations went on. I will never forget how he would sing “arrivederci” as a player of a card game would run out of quarters. What a delightful, caring, and loving man. Thank you for the great memories! I too will miss him dearly…

Dana, Chris, and Sammy, Our sympathies from the Merwin Stoltz Company on your loss. I only got to meet Jim at Chris's 50th so didn't know him well. My wife had a rememberance of him though and thought very highly of him. Again, our condolences.

Dear Pat, We can't tell you how much our friendship with you and Jim means to us. Although we only had the opportunity to meet a few times we felt that we knew you both for many years. I'm sure that Jim had that effect on most people he knew. Saratoga will not be the same. Our hearts and prayers are with you and the family. With love and sincere sympathy. Tom and Camille Sabatelle

Betty and I are so sorry for your loss
We both remember the good times, the dinners and New Year's Eves together, with Jim being the life of the party. His golf was always good for the fun and comradery. No one was more proud of being Italian than Jim, and who could forget the fun he had being in charge of Festa Italiano. When we were with Jim, we knew we were with a person who really cared about us. The world seems just that little bit less bright without him. He is truely missed by us.

I grew up with Jim in Brooklyn. I also went into the Army with him and went to Germany with Jim and Elvis Presley. Jim and I would often venture to Frankfurt to talk about how much we missed Brooklyn and all our friends and family. I lost contact with Jim until three years ago. He sent me a book that he had written and I was grateful. We lost contact once again! Today I received word of his passing and I am very sad! We lost contact but never lost our friendship. May he rest in peace.

Jim's genuine concern for his friends and family was tremendous and well known. Jim was a mentor to many younger people, including myself. From caddying for him at Tripoli and later working with him many years later, Jim is one of a small universe of people who have had an important impact on my life. His novel is an inspired work that suits the times that he was rightly proud of, and that more people would be well served to read. Q, your smile and manner will be greatly missed. God Bless.

I knew “Q” from older days at Tripoli. I remember him as outgoing, always ready with a friendly quip. The story of Jim tossing his clubs into the #7 pond is well known. Jim & Mike teamed up for many years in the Invitational. No more can be said for anyone but that he was a good and decent man. May God Bless Him and be with his Family.
