Dr. John J. Czajka

Czajka, Dr. John J. John is sorely missed by his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he touched. He passed peacefully in hospice on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 with family at his side. One of John's relatives, Rich Bard, described him best: John "was one of the funniest, most outgoing and heartwarming people I ever had the opportunity to be around. He had that smile on his face, twinkle in his eye.His confidence and humility allowed him to selflessly interject into things, no need for guile, and make them all that much better." Born in Chicago, Illinois, John attended St. Thomas College and Marquette University Medical School. John was a pediatrician and humanitarian who lived and practiced medicine in Hales Corners and Franklin, Wisconsin. John founded Forest View Pediatrics and the free Guadalupe Children's Medical and Dental Clinic on the south side of Milwaukee, for which President Carter praised him. He was Sertoma International's Man of the Year. John did not tolerate injustice. John and Shirley retired to Delafield, Wisconsin in 1996 and recently moved to San Camillo in Wauwatosa. John loved all sports, golfed, played sheepshead, and was a rabid Marquette basketball, Packers, and Cubs fan. He traveled widely with family and friends. One of John's greatest adventures was a Colorado River rafting trip to celebrate his 70th birthday. John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, 6 children and their spouses and significant others, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters. John's strength and character live in them. As Shirley is fond of saying, "it was a great ride." Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners, 53130, from 1:00 PM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 PM, followed immediately by a reception and celebration of life for family and friends. Private Inurnment at St. Mary Cemetery, Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
