Fr. Phil was a welcoming presence when I attended All Saints and always had a friendly word. I will miss him and his beautiful voice.

We knew Father Phil years ago at St. James' Milwaukee. I remember how beautifully he sang the narration of the Passion on Good Friday, especially at the end, when he slid into a hauntingly beautiful Mozaribic chant. He was always patient and kind with us crazy Anglo-Catholics and always had time for us. When I wanted to brush up my college Greek, it was Father Phil who found a Marquette grad student to tutor me. I know he will be sorely missed. May his memory be eternal!

It was my privilege to be Phil’s family physician and friend for 3 decades. It was always a pleasure to see him in the office. He brought his quiet wisdom, strength, patience and humility to our visits. When we were frustrated by a lack of options, he would gently remind me that having human limitations was quite acceptable in a physician. I am truly sorry circumstance won’t allow me to attend the service today, but my thoughts will.
Thanks Phil, I’ll miss you. David P. Imse MD

I am so sorry about your loss. I was given the opportunity to be with him during his crisis at the clinic. We were all praying for his recovery and well being. But I guess the good Lord had other plans for him. I only met him for a few quick minutes before the Paramedics came to help us with his medical condition. I did have a chance to stay with Suzanne and help her during this very hard time. I do hope that everything turns out all right and that Suzanne and the rest of your family remembers all of the good times you had with your dad. Everyone here at the clinic are very sad that he is gone; but also glad that we had a chance to be there when he needed someone to help him out.

Dear Suzanne,
I was so sorry to hear about Phil's death. Even though I haven't been a regular at the Cathedral lately, I have very fond memories of you and Phil. I really got to know him from working for Bishop White and then, of course, I got to know both of you by being a member of the Cathedral family. I will miss his presence. Please know that my prayers are with you and your family during your time of loss.
Sincerely,
Jane Lukens
