While Milwaukee and Wisconsin have lost a visionary leader, Joseph Zilber's founding gift to support the School of Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee serves as one important legacy of his leadership. As Acting Dean of the School, I can assure the Zilber family that the faculty of the new school are working diligently to make Joseph Zilber's vision for public health--one that we all share--a reality.

Zilber Family,
So many people spoke highly of your father and I found out for myself what a warm person he was when I met him for the first time two years ago. He invited me in his and Marilyn's home I felt I knew him forever. What a sweet person and very loveable. He was a very special friend of AAT and I'm glad I they shared their stories with me. A man with such a big heart will be truly missed by all. God Bless You All

My condolences to the Zilber family. My mother was very close to staying at your lovely hospice last year but she passed away before we made that decision. It was a beautiful place and God Bless you and you family for creating it and giving dignity to the sick and dying. I'm glad he was able to spend his last days in such a beautiful place and God bless him for all he did.

Joe Zilber gave me my first job out of college, in 1952. Our office was in a store front on 12th and Cherry. How times haved changed.
We remained close friends ever since.
My four daughters refered to the Zilber's, as Aunt Vera and Uncle Joe.
I enjoyed having dinner with Joe and his daughter Marilyn every time I passed through Honolulu from a project I was doing in the Pacific Rim. We would remiinisce and laugh about the "good old days"
My wife Chris, my daughters and my self will always remember the "good old days" with the Zilber's.

Our deepest condolences to the entire Zilber Ohana. Castle Medical Center's administration and associates are and always will be thankful for Mr. Zilber's generosity. Because of his generous heart and vision, thousands of Windward moms and dads will continue to welcome their newborn babies at our Vera Zilber Birth Center. Mr. Zilber was a remarkable man and words cannot fully express the sadness we feel. His name however, will live on as testament of the life he lead, the example he set and the lives that were touched. Rest in peace Mr. Zilber. You will be missed.

Dear Zilber Family,
Because of your generous father, we we able to spend 3 more treasured months with my father at the Zilber Hospice. I had not seen my dad that happy and grateful in a long time. The establishment and their staff are wonderful and I will always consider it the "Home in my Heart".

Unfortunately, I am out-of-town and cannot attend the funeral services for Joe. Over the years, Joe and I worked on many philanthropic and economic development projects. Joe was a truly remarkable man, and his life is to be celebrated.
