Josephine Zuba Obituary

Josephine "Jo" Zuba

Passed peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the age of 94 years. Reunited with her husband, Richard of 63 years and their son Francis; who have been impatiently waiting for her to catch up. She survived raising four unruly sons, which instilled in her the patience of a saint. They now survive her: Michael (Cris), Tom (Linda), Pete (Tricia) and Bill (Mary). She spent the second half of her life spoiling her grandchildren rotten: Jessi (Sonya), Adam, Erin (Tim O'Heron), Josh, Zach, Isaac, Joe Sliwinski, Tony, Ben and Michael; and they are all better people for it. She is further endeared to her great-grandchildren Rutledge, Ferris and Maelyn; countless nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her sisters: Margie Aumann, Betty O'Donnell and Rita Maher and survived by her sister Fran Longhini.

Born on Milwaukee's East Side, she spent her entire life in the city and was a Milwaukeean through and through. She hung out at Wolski's and bowled in leagues at Landmark Lanes before either was cool. She enjoyed a cocktail or two, and she and her sister Rita were often bad influ-ences on each other in the best way possible. Her tuna casserole was delicious; her candy drawer - epic. She loved to gamble and her lucky streaks were famous. Her sons still argue over who in-herited that gift from her. She had beautiful hands and an even more beautiful heart. She used both to hold her loved ones safe and close all these years.

In lieu of flowers, go out and buy a scratch off lottery ticket. She would get a kick out of that, and maybe her luck will find you too.

Visitation Wednesday, March 17 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at ST. ROMAN CHURCH (1810 W. Bolivar Ave) followed by the celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery.

Dear Tom, Mike, Peter and Bill,
I am so sorry to learn about the loss of your mother this morning. I was just thinking about her and your family on Friday while making a waffle! The first time I had homemade waffles was at your house. And the only time I had turkey croquettes and czernina! I spent a good deal of my grade youth at your house and with your family. Your mom was a wonderful women! Even though we may not officially be, you guys will always be my cousins. Praying for you all and asking God to wrap His loving arms around you and your families while you go through this difficult time. I wish I could be there on Wednesday, but I am not vaccinated as of yet and need to stay safe. And I will be buying a lottery ticket this week. Peace to you all.......Jack
