To all Family members.

Its a sad Day for all on the South Side, with Louie Passing.

My dad, Tony Zanotti grew up and was very close to the Family.

We would always stop, when in Milwaukee ,to say hello
and pick up goodies at the Store.

My Dad passed back in 2006, and we had his Memorial at the Club Garibaldi and had Groppi's Cater the Lunch.

My sister Barbara(Potyka), Her Husband Jim, Zac Cole and my boys Robert & Chadwick convey our thoughts and prayers with your Family.

I will miss you Uncle Louie.
Let my just share a lil story. August 3rd I was in a very bad motorcycle accident. I was in a coma for 15 days. We when I was in my coma the Dr. told very one that they should talk to me. Well my wife (now EX wife) had gotten word about Uncle Louie's thoughts on the whole situation. And it was about the second day after the accident and they were still unsure if I would survive or not. So after the were no more visitors, my EX wife was telling me how made he was at me for riding those stupid motorcycles. And even in a coma tears started to run down my cheeks. GOD BLESS YOU UNCLE LOUIE RIP Tommy Derfus

I really don't know what to say, words can not express the sorrow that I feel for the loss of your husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather. Louie always had a smile on this face. I loved see him in the store. I can also remember the kindness that the Groppi family extended to my family when we needed help. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

I was so sorry to learn of Louie's death. My family lived on Delaware Av. until 1966. In the store, I was known as the "Dip Dip Girl" because I couldn't say potatoe chips. I always felt special going into Groppi's. In the late 1950's my dad was out of work for several months due to back surgery. My parents, Bob and Lois Cornale were extended credit from "The Groppi Boys' for all of those months. My parents were forever greatful to Louie, Mario and Tommy for this kind act. I will always have such very special memories of Groppi's !!

God Bless,
Melanie Cornale Susedik

I was fortunate enough to work at Groppis from 2003 to 2006. Louis would bring a smile to my face every morning that I worked; he was sharp and whitty and that's how he will be remembered by me. He will be missed dearly, but his memories will carry on forever. Take Care.

My deepest sympathy to the Groppi family. I have such wonderful memories of the store and all the brothers that worked there. Such kindness you extended to your customers. The gifts you gave at Christmas and the credit you gave to your customers in need. I recall a few times when my parents couldn't make it to the store how Tommy would deliver the groceries. I remember talking to Mario at my Dad's funeral. Who would think he would be gone a few months later. God bless you Louie. And thank you for your service to our country.

Sincerely, Gregory Rupcic

Louie will be sorely missed. As the first niece in the family, I have many fond memories of Uncle Louie. I remember him coming home from World War II with suitcases full of shells from the South Pacific. I remember him playing Santa Claus at the Groppi Family Christmas gatherings. He loved his homing pigeons and flew partners with my Husband for a time. He was a long time member of the Ace Homing Club. He was a kind and gentle man and I know he will have a special place in heaven. So long Uncle Louie and I know you will be with us all in spirit always.

Dear George:
Mary and I send our deepest sympathy to you, your wonderful mother, and the rest of your family. I have such vivid and fond memories of your dad from our school days. He and your Mom and Grandmother always made me feel so welcome and special when I would visit your home. When my Mom died in 1996, I remember how touched I was to see your parents at the funeral home. And recently, when I saw you here in Las Vegas, you made me howl with laughter telling me stories about what a colorful character he had become in his retirement. He was a rare and wonderful man who will be sincerely missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mother often told me of the kindness the Groppi family extended to the neighborhood during the big "snow storm" of 1947.

The memories are endless when I think of Louie and the gang.I will never forget, that no matter how horrible the winter weather was. Louie or Tommy would deliver my grocery order, with a smile .Having two babies and no means of transportation, they were a blessing. How badly they felt when they had to charge 50 cents for a delivery fee."Hearts of Gold"! My life is all the more richer to have know Louie and his loving family. Please accept my sympathy.I miss all of you.

I have so very many memories of "Louie and the gang" at the
store. All of them are special. He was a true gentleman, with
a twinkle in his eyes. And how him and my mom would go
round and round about his pigeons!! He will be missed.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless

I'm so sorry for your loss. I never met Louis, but I worked with his daughter Darlene. Whenever Darlene spoke of her dad it was with so much love in her voice. So that tells me what a wonderful man he was and how much he will be missed. May God bless all of you with his healing powers.
