Marty Bass lifted your spirit with his exuberant personality. He honored you with his remarkable respect and genuine interest in you. He shared his time and love with kids. He was as kind and unselfish as any gentleman you’ve met. Marty Bass takes a piece of us with him, but it is a piece he so wonderfully placed there himself. Oh, Marty, you have blessed us with so many great memories. And so God Bless you Marty.

I was heartbroken to hear of Marty's passing. It is such a shock to lose someone whose light has shone so intensely, with an enthusiasm that made him bigger than life. There is ample mention here of his sense of humor and warmth, I guess we all gravitate to that light. When it goes out we only feel the gravity, like any imploded star. Marty was illuminating by his moral principles as well. He didn't believe in talking ill of anyone when they were not there to defend themselves. Wouldn't it be a better universe if everyone did that? Godspeed my friend. Love to everyone that knew him, especially his family + wife.

Marilyn, Sherry, Brian and Lou Ann: Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss. As Marty's sister-in-law, I knew his wonderful sense of humor--and my oldest son even shared his birthdate. There is a story I want to share with you that we still laugh about today. My husband, two sons and I joined Marty and Wendy for a Brewers game. Marty got the grill going and we were unpacking our Tailgate picnic at Brewer Stadium, when we realized "Marty" had forgotten to pack the brats. We all laughed but had to go into the stadium and buy vendor brats that, in no stretch of the imagination, would ever taste as good as Marty's. Marty good-naturedly took our teasing for many years. God bless him.

Marty's Family and Loved Ones
I am an old school "chum" from grade school through high school.I a not seen Marty in over 30 years, but still remember him fondly. He could do imitations of some actors I remember He always made us smile.
Even though I lost touch with him I miss him.

To the Bass Family: If I had the magic words to ease your sorrow, I would put them here. I'm sorry never seems like enough at a time like this. I met Marty in Junior High in Lansing and I'd say that we were friends from the get-go. It was impossible not to be. Marty had a way of capturing those around him with his sense of humor and love of life. When people leave us before their time, we are always left to wonder why. Hopefully the memories we hold in our hearts will get us past the rough sledding, knowing that we will link up again some day. My wife Shar and I will be thinking of you and remembering you in our prayers as you come through this most difficult time.

I was very sorry to learn of Marty's passing. Marty was my room mate in Mortuary school and a good friend. I am
sorry I let time get away. I thought of him many times in the past years, always thinking I would give him a call, but As funeral directors know all to well, time ran out. My deepest sympathy to all his family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathy to the Bass family. I was a neighbor of Marty's in his hometown of Lansing. I was in Lansing visiting my family when I read the announcement of his death. Marty was a childhood friend when we both lived on Jewell Avenue. My mom (Emily Corey) remembered an experience of Marty's. He was on a ladder on the roof of his house. Somehow the ladder fell and he was hanging on the eves. Marty was screaming my father's name "George George over here, I need some help" My Dad was in our yard, his feet never hit the ground to get to Marty and support the ladder. Just another day in the neighborhood. Marty was terrific and such a great sense of humor. I'm a better person knowing Marty.
Sincerely,
Sharon Corey Laue

Dear LouAnn,
What a sad day in our lives when we heard the news that "Uncle Marty" was gone. We will remember his infectious laugh and scemeing as he sent Scottie and Tim through the bleachers of County Stadium to collect "hats"-then hysterically as he mailed them to Scott for his birthday. The biological one- will remember him with love and kidding. John and I will definitely miss the "world famous" this fall and may have to add that extra can for the first score! We will remember the good times we have shared with you and Marty!

Lou Ann -
Christy & I are deeply saddened to learn about Marty's death. We extend to you our sincere condolences.
When you ran into Marty, you always had a good time. He was a one-in-a-million guy who absolutely lit up a room. He always went out of his way to greet everyone with his wonderful smile. He truly enjoyed life and always loved to share a great story (and a good drink) with his astonishingly vast multitude of friends.
Marty, we will always miss you.

Marty;
you were a great friend indeed.Eveytime i went to the area,we made it a point to go to dinner,(with Steve Steinhaus and have a good BRAT) and a Hockey game, or a baseball game,I loved our conversations about the ECAC hockey playoffs. As a fellow EMBALMER, we had many conversations about the technology that we were in. I will miss your E-MAILS, and sence of humor, and my phone calls to you.
