We wish to send the family and close friends our deepest sympathy. Don, Mary, and Alfreda were good friends with a couple I considered my "second parents." When my brother and I were children, we spent some holidays with them. They were loving, warm, and welcoming. I remember Mary's owl memorabilia. Alfreda baked the best pecan finger cookies. I still have a bookmark and owl necklace that Alfreda crocheted. Mary and Alfreda attended our wedding and reception. Mary was at our baby shower; my son is 11 now. We have not seen Mary in years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mary was one of the first teachers I met when I first started teaching kindergarten. She was a role model and mentor to me and she will be missed. I can only thank her for everything she taught me as a kindergarten teacher. Rest now Mary with your dear Don. You've waited long enough.

I taught with Mary at Tippecanoe. She was a wonderful teacher as well as a kind and caring person. I know she touched many hearts. My condolences to her close friends and family.

I heard the name Mrs. Forecki when my brother first went to kindergarten the year before me. When I entered kindergarten, I felt like I already knew her. I vividly remember her playing the piano and singing: It's time to cleeeean up! when play period was over and nap time was to begin. Even though our class was only day, I have many happy memories from back then.
When I was 17 and graduating high school, a classmate and I went to visit Mrs. Forecki's classroom on Senior Skip Day during Senior Week. Karen and I peaked in the door and Mrs. Forecki saw us and her face lit up immediately. Come in! Come in! she said, How nice of you to visit! Then she gathered the children around us and said, These young ladies were once my students, just like you. Now they are all grown up, and they have come to visit us! The children's eyes were wide with awe. We felt like celebrities! Mrs. Forecki took us around the old familiar classroom and we looked at the little homemaker's area and the painting easels. Everything looked as we remembered it, but we marveled at how tiny all the furniture was! It was a wonderful visit I will never forget.
Over the years, I saw Mrs. Forecki at several social gatherings. I always made a point of saying hello and she would inquire about my education and then my career. During a party at a mutual friend's home - not too long ago -- we were among a group of women talking and laughing. As we were chatting, she smiled and gently said, You may call me Mary'. For a moment, I was at a loss for words. I suspect my addressing her as "Mrs. Forecki" may have been making her feel her age. Thank you, Mrs. FffMary' I said, I will try. But I hope you'll forgive me if I forget and still call you Mrs. Forecki', since that is how I have addressed you out of respect for so long -- just like my parents taught me. She laughed and said, Well, alright but only YOU can call me that! I'll always remember our interaction on that day -- the day Mary graduated me from student' to peer'.
