Mary Ellen was my 8th grade teacher at Sacred Heart of Jesus School and she was one of my favorites! She treated us like young adults and not "kids" and created a safe space to question and talk about any topic. Nothing was off limits and I learned so much about the real world from her. May she rest in peace and prayers for her family and friends.

I will always hold precious, the memories of having you in my life growing up! the awesome family times and the loving memory of your Beautiful smile, guitar playing and beautiful voice! The holidays with our families and the togetherness that they brought. You were always there for me when I needed to talk or some good old-fashioned advice. I love you and always will...Love your Niece Kathleen

I went to grade school and high school with Mary Ellen. I remember her beautiful smile and how sweet she was. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Mary Ellen was so full of love and kindness. Her laughter was infectious. She was someone you could joke around with or have a serious conversation with and you felt her being fully present in either situation. She was always following her passions; for art, music, for anything French and was an inspiration to always keep learning in this life. She was passionate about teaching and education and had wonderful ideas about how to transform education systems to make them work for all learners. She will live on in our hearts and in our memories as we strive to be fully present in all matters frivolous and serious, to live life fully and follow our interests, and to spread joy and kindness to all we meet. We will miss her so.

We are so sorry for this great loss. We will always remember Mary Ellen reading to children in Cass Street Park and tending the beautiful garden.
