Mary Ricker Obituary

Ricker, Mary Ann (Nee Graner) Peacefully passed away at home with her family at her side on February 18, 2013, at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Edward G. Ricker, Jr. Dear mother of Mary Ann Ricker, Nancy (Kevin) Cahill, Susie (Robert) Rinka, Edward (Ailene) Ricker, Elizabeth (Daniel) Mosley and Eileen (William) Knight. Loving grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of five. Mary Ann attended Milwaukee Downer College and Lawrence University. She was a member of the St. Louis Women's Club and a volunteer at Goodwill Industries of St. Louis. Mary Ann was a member of the Milwaukee Junior League, Women's Club and Town Club. Her outer beauty was evident by her career as a model and airline stewardess, but her inner beauty was more evident to her faith, family and friends. The family wishes their sincerest gratitude to all her care givers, but most especially the family would like to thank Sandy Andrews for her loving care and compassion towards their beloved mother. Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 23, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 7600 North Port Washington Road (corner of Calumet and Port Washington), Fox Point, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery will be private for the family. Memorials in Mary Ann's name may be made to St. Eugene Parish or the Alzheimer's Association, 620 S. 76th Street, Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.

Aunt Ann was my godmother and always treated me with special TLC and encouragement. I remember babysitting for the Ricker's at their beautiful Shorewood Avenue home plus the terrific Thanksgiving,Christmas and Easter feasts. We were always happy to have these meals at her house since she was such a phenomenal cook. (I still use some of her recipes).

Aunt Annie was a beautiful person, a wonderful hostess, a cheerful, kind presence who always looked like a million dollars no matter the occasion.

We will miss your dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and it is indeed sad to see her as the last (except for Aunt Patsy)of this marvelous generation. The memories of our wonderful clan will always be indelible and I thank God to be a part of such a family!

Love,
Kathleen, #2 of the next generation

Aunt Annee always amazed me with her strength of character and confidence in self. And she always carried herself with such grace ... exhibiting such a warm and welcoming smile for everyone in her path.

She raised (along with Uncle Ed) a wonderful family - a family I will always be grateful to
call first cousins. And did we all have great fun as little ones growing up in Milwaukee or what?! Lucky us,
for the sharing in the lives of Ann, Ed, Gene, Meg, Charlotte & Sandy. I still see them all as prime examples of "the greatest generation."

And Aunt Annee had a great eye for beauty, which showed in all her homes, and in all the environments
she lovingly nurtured. Where there was beauty, there was sure to be Aunt Annie admiring it and bringing her
personal inner beauty and refined manners along as a bonus for those around her.

This is a statement that is often looked at as a cliche, but I know I certainly will be able to see her in my mind's eye for as long as I live ... and yes, she will not be forgotten because of all she added to life.

Rest in God's hands Aunt Annee -- you will be missed by many for a long, long time.

With my deepest sympathies to all my cousins and to all Aunt Annee's extended family,

Cousin Bob Falk

A wonderful lady with a cute sense of humor. Ann and her husband, Ed, were a welcome addition to St Louis & Stifel Nicolaus.
