To Melodie's family-

You had the joy of her passion, dignity and grace on a daily basis. Such a gift ! I remember watching her on TV, but she touched my life personally through ABCD. In the mentor training class I found out that she was involved in picking each mentor/mentee pair. I will continue my best to help keep her memory and that legacy alive.

Dear Oldenburg Family,
What an incredible gift you had in Melodie. Though she only walked the earth for what seemed a short time, the time did walk was priceless. A light has dimmed now that she is gone, she will never be forgoten. I pray you heal in time and find comfort in the fact she gave of herself to you and others.

Dear Oldenburg family,
My deepest sympathy at the passing of Melodie. She taught us by her beautiful example how to live in the face of a terminal illness and to keep on living and doing for others.

May God be with you all in a very special way and know Melodie is not very far off but a bright shining star always and forever looking down upon you and Milwaukee.
Sincerely, Angie Spence

Dear Wayne and kids,

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. My first introduction to your Mom was when I was Morgan's soccer coach when she was maybe 12. We played on a cold rainy day and there she was, on the sidelines, one of our only fans and she even brought the treats. A few years later Wayne offered to be my mentor for three years and I learned more about the incredible family Melodie founded and helped guide. At the root of the enormous public figure and great deeds and lasting legacy was what each of you knew daily: a giving, loving wonderful person who made the most of her life and was such a positive influence on everyone around her. My sincere condolences for your loss.

Dear Wayne,

I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. The couple of times I had the pleasure to visit your home Melodie epitomoized elegance and graciousness. While the loss is enormous it can only be offset by the fact that she was in your life for the time she was.

My most sincere condolonces to you and your family.

To the entire Wilson & Oldenburg Families,

Our prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I loved to see Melodie on the Channel 6 News when I was younger and practically grew up watching her on television. I never knew her personally but I could tell that she was a very kind hearted person. She is no longer suffering so please remember the good times with her and disregard the bad. Melodie, from your friends in the City of Milwaukee, we're going to miss you and will greatly miss hearing your soft, lovable voice. God Bless you all!

My deepest sympathies to the entire Oldenburg family. Melodie was truly the epitome of grace, charm and professionalism, not only in the newsroom, out in the field reporting the news, or working tirelessly in the fight against breast cancer, but in her home as well. I never got to meet Melodie, but my brother did, one time many years ago, when he was a member of a singing group called "The New Horizon Singers". They were contracted by Melodie and Wayne to perform at a function at their home. When I saw my brother a few days later, he could not say enough nice things about both Melodie and Wayne - how gracious they were to the group, and how they made the singers feel like part of their family. Rest in Peace Melodie, and please know that the work you started when you founded ABCD 11 years ago will continue to be carried on by others until the end of time.

Wayne and Children:
"Mel" was one of the best in the business. Professional, fair, decent, respectful. One of a kind. But most important, I know how much she loved you. She bragged about you on a daily basis, and rightly so.
Her legacy is one of love and kindness, of helping others and giving her time to make life better for others. I loved working with her. She was my confidant, teacher, and friend. While I cry for her loss, I take comfort in knowing her pain is gone and she's with God. And, she will be with you forever. Love, loyalty, and prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. Melodie was a beautiful person inside and out. We did not know her personally, but felt like we did from watching her so many years as a news reporter. She was a shining star as a reporter and as a role model to so many. As a mother myself I know Melodie wants you to stay strong and close to one another. May her memory live on in your hearts forever. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
