Over the last 6 months or so, I had the honor of meeting and playing onstage with Mike at Callies in Brookfield. While sitting at the bar waiting for our turn to jam, Mike and I talked about life, politics and music. Even though I only knew him for a short time, I will miss him as a mentor and music buddy.

I worked with Mike at Allis Chalmers back in the mid-70’s. Mike was a heavy machinery assembler as well as a painter. Mike assisted “John the painter” and soon found himself taking the lead placing the finishing touches on steam turbines, pumps and cement mining equipment. Mike could do it all. We had many conversations usually over a cold one at Tom and Jerry’s Bar but I never was aware that Mike had a secret passion for music. As sad as I was to learn of Mike’s passing, I am able to take comfort knowing that Mike lived his dream to the fullest. God Bless you Mike.

I worked with Mike forty years ago cleaning school buses and didn't see him again until recently by chance. I was glad to see him again and he made me feel like I was still one of his friends and we caught up on old times and life. I have been sad knowing that I wont have that opportunity to hear him play and or talk to him again. I can't imagine how much Karen and his family are going to miss him.

Karen, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Mike and I made a lot of great music together and took the Nashville plunge at about the same time. Our love of music and the Packers was our bond and I'm honored to have been one of his friends. May God bring you comfort in this time of need.

My Brother
I have in one way or another followed your career from the backyard on. Even working as sound man in the early years, it made me proud to see my big brother on stage.
Packer Sundays are never going to be the same and I will hoist one for you at Smokey's and as usual, drink your green touchdown shot.
I will miss you Mikey,
Ken

Being a fan of live music and local bands I could not help to become a fan of Mike. It was easy to recognize his talent and passion for music. Standing next to Les Paul at stage right is Mike Spellman, and the music plays on...

Mike, your presence on stage and off will greatly be missed. It was an honor to listen to you play with Geoff Landon and the Wolfpack. Although Geoff may find someone to play Bass for the band, you will never be replaced as your memory will live on forever. It is you who we will see on stage. May God bless you and all who love you. Now the Band in heaven will be complete. The sound of you playing Bass and the Angels playing their Harps, will be, well, Heavenly. God Bless you Mike.

Mike,
I am so glad that we are friensa. It was alway good to solve the world's problems over coofee in the morning at Badger and then to see you at gigs when that was done. I was glad to see you last week at Oz.County Fair. We always seem to run into each other at the strangest times. Well until that time my friend, until that time.

You have been a friend for so long, we can't imagine life without you. You will be missed. There is a large hole in the band that will be all but impossible to fill. Play those notes in heaven, as we are sure that is where you are.
Our deepest sympathy to Karen and family, may you find peace in time.

Mike,
I will always have that lasting memory of you, Joey Benton, and I in our first garage band in the 9th grade. Man we sucked. But it certainly did define our paths in life and in the afterlife.
You are sorely missed and never forgotten in our hearts and minds. Although we didn't see each other as our musical paths went in different directions when we did it was great catching up on our endeavors. We will again.

Mike, Even tho it seemed like months at times that we all saw one another between gigs, we all knew we'd come together soon enough! That day "now" will never come again. "Tallulah Who" will never be the same band, but I will cherish always how "amazing" you all were together! Karen, I am so sorry that Mike left way to soon. I can't imagine your pain.
