Nathan Berkowitz Obituary

Berkowitz, Nathan L. Born in Terre Haute, IN, passed away August 7, 2008, age 90 years, of Whitefish Bay. Beloved husband of Pearl (nee Stahl) for 68 years. Dear father of Joan (the late Kal) Eisenberg, Susan (Cary) Silverstein and preceded in death by daughter, Phyllis Stahl-Berkowitz. Fond brother of Jean Kagan. Loving grandfather of Daniel Schnur, Jonathan (Elisa) Schnur, Joshua (Vanessa) Peter, Lizl (Demetrius) Pace, Lesley Maness, Bradley (Cindy) Silverstein, Janet Eisenberg, Sharon (Lorne) Cytrynbaum, Daniel (Rose) Eisenberg and 11 great - grandchildren. Nathan attended the University of Chicago and participated in the Manhattan Project during World War II. He was in the management of Master Lock Corporation and later established the Lock Corporation of America. Nathan was the founder and served as one of the presidents of the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning. He was a strong supporter and a member of the Board of Governors of Technion University in Haifa, Israel. Nathan was an avid golfer and supported the Evans Scholarship fund. He was an active member of Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun and the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. Private graveside services will be held. The public is invited to attend a memorial service at 11:30 AM Sunday, August 10, 2008, at Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun, 2020 W. Brown Deer Rd., River Hills. Memorials to the Wisconsin Society For Jewish Learning or Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun Building Fund preferred.
