Patrick Lyons Obituary

Patrick "Pat" Currie Lyons

80, is described by his family as a gentleman with great integrity. He was a man filled with dedicated devotion to his Catholic faith and his family. He died peacefully on February 6, 2021 at his home at San Camillo with the family he loved and who loved him dearly by his side.

Patrick was born in Duluth, MN on August 22nd,1940. He was the oldest of four sons of Currie and Mary Lyons. Pat attended St. James Grade School in Duluth and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1958. He graduated from Marquette University in 1963 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career as an engineer at Line Materials and later worked at McGraw-Edison and RTE. In 1988, he completely switched careers and purchased a franchise time management business called Priority Management, serving as its President. He added to his business by becoming the Chair of three TEC (The Executive Company) groups, mentoring CEOs from major companies. He retired from both positions in 2013. Pat was a member of Legatus, an organization of Catholic CEOs, for 20 years.

Pat married Barbara Lucia Cianciaruso on November 28, 1964 and they were privileged to parent four children. He loved golfing, playing bridge, carpentry, fishing, gardening, and most importantly riding his bike. He was so passionate about biking that he rode 100 miles per week. He spent many hours renovating the family home on Lefeber Avenue where the family lived for 46 years. He built cabinets, stripped woodwork, painted, built a deck, and put-up miles of wallpaper.

Along with his wife Barbara, Pat enjoyed singing in the Bel Canto Chorus for over 25 years. Pat and Barbara adored travel and saw the world, visiting the Far East, Middle East, the Holy Land, South America, Central America, New Zealand, Australia, and many countries in Europe. His two favorite trips were to Ireland and Italy with his children and grandchildren to explore family roots and history. Pat proudly placed 63 pins on his world map of destinations visited.

Every year, beginning when the children were small, the Lyons family had many cherished summer vacations at a rented lake cottage.

Pat was preceded in death by his brother, John; father, Currie; mother, Mary; niece, Brigitte Lyons; niece, Teresa Heger; sister-in-law, Rose Mary Egan; brother-in-law Dick Heger, and other special relatives. In 2014, he lost his beloved first-born son, Timothy Patrick (48) whom he is now reunited with in heaven.

Pat is survived by his wife Barbara; his daughters, Angela (Gordon) Lynch, of Janesville, WI and Maureen (Paul) Rurka, Riverside, IL, and his son Anthony (Jennifer) Lyons, Milwaukee, WI. He dearly loved his grandchildren -- Felicia and Maria Lynch, and Isabel and Mykhailo Rurka. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Lyons, and Paul (Vicki) Lyons as well as his brother and sisters-in-law, Jean Heger, and Chuck and MaryJo Cianciaruso and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to sincerely thank all of those who took care of Pat: his Parkinson and cancer doctors, the staff at Froedert Hospital, and the St. Camillus Caregivers who lovingly spent many hours caring for his needs for the past year.

Visitation will be held at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral, 10121 W. North Avenue home on Friday, February 12th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 10:30 am at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 734 Glenview Ave., Wauwatosa. The service will be livestreamed and the link will be posted on the funeral home website at the bottom of Pat's notice. Social distancing and face masks are required at both events. Private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Wisconsin Right to Life, The WI Parkinson Association, and the Bel Canto Chorus.

I knew Pat for many years through TEC, where he served as the chair for our group. He was very kind and supportive, someone you could trust, who was genuinely interested in helping others. I am sorry to hear of his passing, and will keep him and his family in my prayers.

Pat led by example. In every interaction, he showed us the importance of seeking new information, gaining exposure to different perspectives and listening with patience. He helped us to hone these skills not simply to make our businesses better, but ultimately to make the world around us better. Blessings to his family during this difficult time.
