Peter Flessas Obituary

Flessas, Attorney Peter N. (Emeritus) Born into this world on November 23, 1928 by his late parents Nicholas and Maria Flessas (nee Stasinopoulos), as one of four sons John, James, William, four daughters Nicoletta, Helen, Adrianne (Robert), and Elizabeth. Passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on February 18, 2018 in the presence of his family. Survived by his loving wife Wanda (Tia) (nee Poulos), and 6 sons, Nicholas (Nicoletta), Robert, John (Diana), George, Peter (Kelly), and Andrew (Summerly). Survived by 9 grandchildren, Peter, Tia, Karly, Zachery, Anthony, Yanni, Penelope, Andrew II, Saphira, the late Pericles and many nephews and nieces. Graduate of Lincoln High School in 1946. Obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and Juris Doctorate (JD) at Marquette University Law School in 1954. Actively practiced law for over 50 years, commencing with the firm of Valenti, Flessas & Foley and later, Valenti, Flessas & Koconis. He concluded his practice with his son, Peter A. Flessas. Served as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Commissioner. His sons Robert and Peter A. continue his legacy as Wisconsin attorneys. Performed over 4,000 wedding ceremonies as a wedding officiant and was the featured officiant on the Jerry Springer national television show. Coined the phrase "Bushville Wins" after the 1957 Milwaukee Braves World Series victory over the New York Yankees and inscribed that memorable moniker on a banner that he paraded down Wisconsin Avenue with his law partners, John Valenti and John Foley. A nationally recognized photo was snapped of that event and featured in news reports, magazines, books and preserved at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. Developed a smoking prevention program for the Milwaukee Public School System for 5th graders to persuade them not to become cigarette smokers. For those efforts, he received the Wisconsin Law Foundation Award for civic achievement in 2005 and honored by the MPS in 2003. Instituted a program at the Milwaukee County Courthouse to allow lawyers to by-pass security scanners reserved for all people entering the courthouse, permitting easy access for lawyers to expedite their attendance in various courtrooms. Served in the US Navy Reserves prior to the Korean War. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Angels Grace Hospice for their loving care. May his memory be eternal. Visitation At the Funeral Home, Saturday February 24th 1-5 PM. Trisagion 4 PM. Funeral Service Monday, February 26, 10:30 AM at Sts. I am sorry to hear of Attorney Flessas passing. We recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. We were married by Peter at the Domes. He officiated in so many weddings over the years and is a part of our memory of that wonderful day. Know that he brought joy to many.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your family doesnt know me but .. about 45 years ago, Mr, Flessas defended my sister in her murder trial after she defended herself by shooting her boyfriend. She was acquitted. We always talk about how lucky we were to have Mr. Flessas. He was so kind and caring to us . We were very poor but Mr. Flessas worked so hard for my sister. We thank him every day.My sister went on to get her bachelors degree and a masters degree. We are older ladies now in our sixties!! We were talking about guns she said MrFlessas told her the gun changes everything. We never have them in our homes! Please know he was the kindest caring person our family had ever met. When it was over he told my sister to live her life. I sent her the obituary. She lives in California now. We cried .. please know what a great person Mr. Flessas was .He saved a very young mother. Praying for you all.
