Passed away March 26, 2005, at age 82, at his winter home in Tucson, Arizona. Ralph was born in Milwaukee on April 27, 1922 and lived in Wisconsin his entire life. He was a member of the first graduating class of Milwaukee University School, predecessor to University School of Milwaukee, in 1940. He graduated from Cross College before serving as a sergeant in the US Air Force. Ralph returned to Milwaukee in 1946, earned his CPA, and commenced his career as assistant manager of the Milwaukee office of Ernst & Ernst. In 1961, he joined Robert W. Baird & Co., heading a corporate finance department that became one of the country's leading regional investment banking practices. As Vice Chairman of Robert W. Baird, he was instrumental in the sale of the company to Northwestern Mutual in 1982. In 1985, Ralph became Executive Director of The Bradley Trusts following the sale of Allen Bradley to Rockwell International. He retired as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Bradley Trusts in 1992.
Ralph believed strongly in community service in the city of Milwaukee. He served on the Boards of numerous charitable, educational, and civic organizations throughout his career, including: Chairman of Aurora Family Service, President of the Milwaukee Rotary Club, President of St. Mary's Hospital Associates, President of The Red Bus Corporation, President of Seton Tower Corporation, President of the Board of Trustees of Milwaukee University School, a trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, a trustee of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Foundation, a trustee of the Village of River Hills, a member of St. Mary's Hospital Advisory Board, a member of Rotary Club of Milwaukee Charitable Trust, a member of DePaul Hospital Foundation, a member of St. Mary's Hospital Advisory board, a director of Health Education Center of Wisconsin, a director of Harambee School Development Corp., a director of Milwaukee County Historical Society, a director of the Wisconsin Historical Foundation, a director of Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, a director of the Milwaukee Club, President of the Town Club, a director of U-Line Corporation and a director of Janes Corporation.
A life-long Catholic, Ralph devoted a substantial amount of time to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, serving as Chairman of the Investment Committee, a member of the Finance Committee, and a member of the Knoernschild Trust of St. Charles Boys' Home. Ralph was awarded the Vatican II award for distinguished service to the Archdiocese in 1992.
Passed away April 12, 2005, at age 81, at her winter home in Tucson, Arizona. Nancy was born in Milwaukee on September 15, 1923, and lived in Wisconsin her entire life. She graduated from Milwaukee Downer Seminary and Pine Manor Junior College in Boston.
Nancy, along with her husband, Ralph, was an active sponsor and contributor to numerous charitable, educational and civic organizations in Milwaukee. She was a member of the Junior League of Milwaukee, the Garden Club of Milwaukee, and the Daughters of the American Revolution; as well as an active volunteer for many years in the Burn Unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She was also an avid tennis player, golfer, and bridge enthusiast.
Nancy was the great-great-granddaughter of E.P. Allis, founder of Allis Chalmers.
Ralph and Nancy were married for 58 years. They are survived by their children: Stephen (Melissa) of Dallas, Texas; Susan of Milwaukee; Edward (Catherine) of Columbus, Ohio; and Barbara Cicco of Tenafly, New Jersey; and ten grandchildren.
A MEMORIAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED FOR RALPH AND NANCY AT THE CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST, 802 N. JACKSON ST., AT 2:00 PM ON JUNE 22, 2005. THE INBUSCH FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 1:00 PM AT THE CATHEDRAL.
