Bakersfield, California, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. His strength, bravery, and unwavering spirit throughout his illness were a true reflection of the remarkable character he embodied throughout his life.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Salvador was the son of the late Dr. Salvador V. and Rica del Rosario.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Gigi; and their cherished sons, Camilo and Rafael del Rosario. Salvador is also remembered with love by his siblings: Clarissa (Norb) Schiek of Cedarburg, WI; Melissa (Matthew) Marasco of Chicago, IL; and Michael del Rosario and his partner Samantha of Brooklyn, NY. He leaves behind nieces Anissa (JT Garcia), Bella, and Zoe Schiek, and nephew Rocco del Rosario, all of whom adored him.
Salvador graduated from University School of Milwaukee in 1991 and earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in 1995. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at UCLA , San Fernando Valley in 2003 where he earned Polished Diamond Award for "Outstanding Graduate Resident" by the faculty and his fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2006 where he earned the Judd Marmor Faculty Award.
On May 12, 1999, Salvador married the love of his life, Gigi Galongca, in Port Washington, Wisconsin. The couple made their home in Bakersfield in 2006, where they built a beautiful life together.
A Board-Certified Adult and Child Psychiatrist, Salvador served with dedication and compassion at Kern Medical Center and later at Kaiser Permanente. He received several awards recognizing his clinical excellence and unwavering commitment to patient care.
Salvador was known for his boyish charm, gentle spirit, and zest for life. He enjoyed countless hobbies-motorcycles, music, golf, and flying RC airplanes among them-and he approached each with enthusiasm. He touched many lives with his kindness, humility, and courage. A devoted husband, father, brother, and respected physician, Salvador was always ready to help anyone in need-family, friend, neighbor, or stranger.
Funeral Mass
A Funeral Mass to honor Salvador's life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 9:30 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Highway,
Bakersfield, CA 93309. A reception will follow immediately.
