To the Klopcic Family,
My Mother, Rita Lucas (Merkel), went to North Division High School with Dick. Throughout the years, she visited The Fireside many times and always enjoyed Dick visiting with her at her table. She was amazed after so many years that Dick still remembered her. This goes to show what a wonderful man Dick was. Mother sends her sympathy and prayers to the entire Klopcic family.

What a joy to know a man who was a follower of Jesus Christ in profession and whose character matched his profession exactly! May the God for whom Dick lived be especially near those he loved in the coming days. The cause of Christ has lost one of its most loyal followers! We will ALL miss him!

Dear Rick & Jane, Kim & Paula, and extended Klopcic family,

I’m very sorry to hear of your father’s passing and I wanted to take a moment to tell you how honored I feel for the opportunity to have known him and to have been a part of your family for a short while. It’s hard to believe that I was brought into the Klopcic fold over 20 years ago…where does the time go?

Your father’s faith, kindness, showmanship and generosity all made a lasting impression on me that will never be forgotten. I believe that anyone who has had the opportunity to meet him and be a part of his Fireside dream would agree.

I know you will take comfort in the wonderful life he had with your mother, the wonderful dream he shared with so many, and the wonderful legacy he leaves behind.

My sincere condolences, Machelle

My deepest sympathies go out to the Klopcic family. My parents and I started attending shows at the Fireside back in 1980 with some long time friends. Over the years, after my Dad passed away, Mom and I continued attending shows at the Fireside, and eventually became season ticket holders. Dick and the staff at the Fireside always treated their customers like family, and they still do to this day. My family and I became very good friends with Dick after my Mom ran a bus tour to one of the shows back in the early 90s. He would buy our family a drink once or twice a year, when we would see him at the show we were attending. Dick always went out of his way to make everyone feel like the Fireside was their own home. He will truly be missed by everyone whose lives he touched in a very special way. Dick, I'm sure you and my Mom have already met up in heaven, and are "Cooking up a huge amount of bacon for the Sunday brunch shows". Rest in Peace my friend. You have definitely earned it.
