Robert W. "Bob" Arps

Robert Arps Obituary

April 14, 2006, age 64. Passed away peacefully with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Beloved husband, lover and friend of Barbara (nee Heling). Loving father of Debra (Warren) Schall, Sherryl Wollenzien and William (Dawn) Wollenzien. Loving grandfather of Becca and Samantha. Father-in-law of Hsiu Hui Liu. Robert is also survived by a sister, Nancy (Arthur) Cohrs and extended family member, Tammy Wolff. Bob is preceded in death by son Michael R. and parents Harry and Irene Arps. Further survived by other relatives and numerous friends.

Bob spent 34 years in the grocery industry starting with the Tom Trump Co. Food Brokerage, and retiring from Crossmark Sales & Marketing. Bob was a member of the U.S. Army from 1961-1963, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Hari and the very kind staff of the BMT unit, 4NT, MICU, 4NW, the Oncology Clinic of Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, for the compassionate care given to Bob.

Private Services for the family will be held upon the request of Bob. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated to further the education of his treasured grandchildren.

It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire lifetime to forget them. Bob's smile was contagious and you could not help but be happy in his presence.

Dear Barb,

Please accept our sympathy for your loss of a really great person. We especially remember our boat trip over to Grand Haven. What a fun time. Bob was one of the truly great people in our industry and he made all of us better people for knowing him. I hope your great memories can help pull you through this very tough time.

Barb,

Bob's zest for life has been stilled, yet his smile remains in all of us.

I think of Bob and I see that smile. It makes me smile even now.

May we all spread the joy that Bob found in life, by remembering him, and smiling too. He would have liked that.

Dear Barb,

What can anyone say...He was the best. He was the best Boss I ever had, because he really cared. He cared about his employees and he did his best to make the job fun. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. May your memories of the past help you through the future.

With All My Heart,

I worked in the office next to Bob for nearly two years and will remember him for his laugh and for always having a big smile on his face. He was always willing to offer advice to us new guys and help out when needed. He was a great presence to be around . My thoughts are prayers are with you.

Everyone who knew Bob loved him. What a great guy! He was always willing to help out a friend. Bob made you feel good just to be in his company. We will all miss you. It is very unfair that you are leaving so soon. You and Barb had a wonderful marriage - the best of friends. Bob, it is hard to believe that you are gone!
