Robert Hanneman Obituary

Age 73, passed away after a long illness, on Friday, February 10, 2006, at the Shorehaven Rest and Rehabilitation Center in Oconomowoc. Bob was born September 10, 1932, in Montello to Oscar and Else (Ziehm) Hanneman. Bob married Doris Schlutter on September 29, 1956, in Markesan. After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh he began teaching biology at Greenfield High School in 1958. He took a short sabbatical to earn a Master's in Biology from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He returned to teaching and was Audio-Visual Director at Greenfield before retiring from education in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; his children, Mark Hanneman, Cary Hanneman, and Tamara (Michael) Rubin; and his grandchildren, Christopher and Alexis Hanneman; and Moses, Caleb, and Tobias Rubin; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dan and Sue Schlutter, and Don and Marietta Schlutter; and many nieces and nephews, as well as many good and loyal friends. The family sends a special thanks to Wayne Kannel and Ron Wojack, who stood near until the end.

Bob was an avid outdoor sportsman whose interest in hunting and fishing turned increasingly to nature appreciation and conservation later in life. His family and friends will remember many hikes, fishing expeditions, boat rides and scenic trips with Bob.

A memorial celebration of Bob's life and a luncheon will be held Monday, February 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Weissgerber's Seven Seas, 1807 Nagawicka Rd. in Hartland. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Nature Conservancy at www.nature.org or National Parkinson Foundation at www.Parkinson.org would be greatly appreciated.

There are teachers that shape your life and leave a lasting impression, Mr. Hanneman was one of those. I truly enjoyed his Biology class back in the 60's. I thought of him often through out the years and was surprised and sorry to read of his passing. Please except my deepest sympathy.

Doris,

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Bob fondly for his intellect and wit-he always spoke to the point and usually with humor. I'm sure you will be celebrating his life today with dear ones and please know he, you, and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Tamara, Mrs. Hanneman, Mark and Carey. I am so sorry for your loss. Even though it has been over 20 years since we have seen each other, seeing your father's death notice tugged at my heart for you.

Your Dad was so much fun to be around. I remember the time we went mushrooming with him in the woods in your backyard and having so many laughs. I especially remember the times your Dad took us camping to Devil's Lake, a visit to your grandparents house in Markesan and all those rides to wrestling meets to watch your brothers. It has been a long time since we spoke but please know that you and your family hold a special place in my heart and memory. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Love, Lisa.
