Sandra Stuermer

Stuermer, Sandra (Nee Zedler) found peace in the early morning hours of April 30th, 2018. Long time resident of Whitefish Bay; graduate of St. Marcus Lutheran and Riverside High School (1955). Retired from Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co. Long time member of Faith United Church of Christ and Cream City Calligraphers. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold. Survived by daughter Susan (Chawki) of Milwaukee, brothers Gerald Zedler of Oostburg and Paul (Joy) Zedler of Madison, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Unmistakable was the great courage and determination with which Sandra fought a 50+ year war with Multiple Sclerosis and, ultimately, much shorter battles with stroke and pancreatic cancer. Sandra will be remembered for her quiet grace, quick wit, and the great enthusiasm with which she somehow managed to pursue a staggering array of creative and artistic endeavors, despite many physical challenges. She will be forever missed. The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hashim Sadig; the staff of Hometown Hospice; special friends Susan Kaburu, Donna Olivarez, and Lakecisha Ward, all of whom made it possible for Sandra to remain in the comfort of her own home throughout a long and sometimes difficult journey. The family asks, in honor of Sandra, that you take this opportunity to some spend extra time with a neighbor, loved one, or elder who may be silently struggling with loneliness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel-Bethany United Church of Christ, St. Marcus Lutheran School, the National MS Society, and/or the humanitarian cause of your choosing. Services will be held on Saturday May 12th at Northshore Funeral Service, with a visitation at 12:00pm and a 1pm funeral service immediately following.
