Scott Jeanis Obituary

Jeanis, Scott William Age 44, of Brookfield, lost his battle with cancer on June 13, 2013. Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI, on Saturday, June 15, from 3 to 6:30 PM with the funeral service at 7 PM. Scott graduated from Waukesha South High School (Class of '87) and earned degrees in English literature (B.A., '92), communications (B.A., '92), and adult education (M.A., '93) from the University of Wisconsin. A dedicated cyclist, he was an acclaimed spin-instructor at Elite Sports Club where his classes were legendary for their intensity. His positive attitude and heartfelt concern for helping others inspired fierce loyalty among his students. Scott's zest for life further impacted countless others at Caribou Coffee, where his ready smile and affable nature changed a simple coffee shop into a true community of friends. Scott loved to host gatherings in his home where his spirited conversation and culinary exploits were renowned. He truly enjoyed traveling, having explored six continents while never allowing a foreign language to stand between him and making new friends. His friends benefited from Scott's passion for reading and delight in introducing them to exotic teas. He demonstrated daily the power of love, faith, and friendship to transform lives. In his final days many friends came to celebrate his life with him, his family, and each other. Scott's motto was "carpe your diem," and he asked that those who would honor his memory reach out in friendship to help others. In lieu of flowers, contributions to help animals (via HAWS), people (kiva.org), or wild spaces (The Nature Conservancy) would be deeply appreciated. A hint of some of the many lives Scott touched and a tribute to his life can be viewed at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/scottjeanis. Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy McCall, M.D.; parents Caralyn Court and Don Jeanis; twin brother Ken Jeanis; and cherished Bernese Mountain dog Oolong McCall-Jeanis.

Scott would come to stay with us on his travels to England. He called us his London Family. We would go on trips around London together. He had a fantastic personality, full of fun, laughter and jokes. He was a beautiful person both inside and out. I will plant a tree in my garden for Scott so that there will be a tribute for him in London. His London family are deeply saddened and we send all our love and thoughts to his family and friends.
