Stephanie Zanoni Obituary

Zanoni, Stephanie Marie Born July 22, 1932, in Milwaukee, WI, to Antonina (Tomasello) and Frank, Sr., Trovato; sister to Frank, Jr. (Candy Mascipinto) of Pewaukee, WI, and Joseph of Las Vegas, NV. Wife of Aldo S. Zanoni (b. May 20, 1932), son of Oreste and Anita (Zuech), originally of Cloz, Trentino, Italy. Stephanie and Aldo were married on February 12, 1955, at St. Rita's Parish, in Milwaukee's Third Ward. Stephanie died on March 13, 2012, at her home surrounded by family from progression of demetia; she was 79 years old. Stephanie and Aldo are parents to six children Anthony Louis (b. 1955, d. 1957), Joseph in civil union with Albert Prieto, Michael married to Mardelle (Brunner) with children Scott, Caitlin and Hayley, Nicholas married to Jean (Erickson) with children Christopher and Natalie, Anthony Gerard married to Mary Jo (Burgarino) with children Dominic, Gabrielle, Julianna, and Elizabeth and Stephanie (Zanoni) Brandt married to Christopher with children Christopher, Maria and Antonina. Stephanie graduated from St. Rita's Grade School in 1945 and from Messmer High School in 1949. She attended Mount Mary College for a year and then transferred to Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) where she graduated with a certificate in Barber/ Cosmetology and license in 1951. Stephanie went on to obtain both her Managing Cosmetologist and Instructor licenses. She became an instructor in cosmetology at MATC in 1977 and taught theory, law and managed the apprentice program. Stephanie is the author of two books: Barber/ Cosmetology Law, Second Edition, 1982/1992, Milwaukee, WI: Tech/Data Publications and The Instructor's Manual, 1992/1994, Milwaukee, WI: Tech/Data Publications, still used in cosmetology instruction. Stephanie completed her Bachelor's Degree from Cardinal Stritch University, in Milwaukee, WI, in 1986. She retired from MATC after 18 years of teaching in 1995. Stephanie was a devote Roman Catholic; she and Aldo joined St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish in 1965 when they moved to Wauwatosa. She was an active member of her parish participating in school activities for her children, the development program including organizing rummage sales and offered prayers as part of the prayer circle. Stephanie was a gifted artist who loved needlework, quilting and creating hooked rugs. She was a proud member of the Cream City Hookers, a rug hooking club and received awards for her work in the Home Economics Division of the Wisconsin State Fair in 1998, 2003, 2005 and 2007. She filled their home with collections of primitive house wares and pottery of the arts and crafts movement. Stephanie was an avid traveler and a lover of all things Italian; she traveled to Italy and studied ancient Roman hair design. Loving language and culture, she studied Spanish at the Hart Park Senior Center and enjoyed watching classic movies. Stephanie, Aldo and their family designed and built a log cabin in the 1980's in Mount Morris, WI nearby Silver Lake where their young family vacationed during summer months; the cabin complex is a work in progress and the gazebo chimney is still under construction. Stephanie and her family cared for her mother Antonina at the Lutheran Home for nine years; she and Aldo volunteered with Lutheran Home residents for many years. Visitation for Stephanie will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 16 from 4PM until the time of vigil service at 7PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish, 7474 Harwood Avenue on Saturday, March 17 at 9:30AM. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in a private service. Aldo and the family acknowledges Dr. James and Mrs. Joan Ziolkowski for the support and friendship particularly in the months preceding Stephanie's passing, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice Services, the Lutheran Home, St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Anne's Home, Froedtert Hospital, her physicians, nurses, therapists and care givers and especially Jessica Sodov who provided care and comfort to Stephanie at home in the weeks before her passing. In lieu of flowers or offerings please make a donation to the charity of your choice or to Wauwatosa Catholic School in Stephanie's name.

Aldo and Family, I was so sorry to hear of Stephonie's death. Some of the rug hookers heard too late to attend the funeral but our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Do you remember when you drove her to Delafield so she could go with me to Rock River rug camp?We always enjoyed her many projects. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Mrs. Zanoni was my instuctor at WCTC first in the cosmetology program in 1983 and then in the instructor program in 1992. What a great person and mentor! I was also in Stephanie's 1983 class at Pius and Tony's TAC. My sympathy and peace to your family. Keep the memories alive.

To tha Zanoni family, you will all be in our prayers. Mrs. Zanoni was a very active Wife, Mother and Grandmother. We got to know the Zanoni family by way of our kids. Mr and Mrs Zanoni were always together at functions showing support where they could. She will be missed dearly by many. Sorry we could not attend the services we are at our home in Fl. Tom & Jean Smith & family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Unfortunately we could not attend the services but our thoughts & prayers are with you all now and in the months ahead. In dealing with the recent loss of my father & knowing the disease 1st hand with my own mother, I realize the difficulty you all have gone through as well. Take comfort in the fact that she now happy, well and smiling down on you all for eternity.
