Thomson Kane Obituary

Kane, Thomson D. Died at home December 15, 2006, at the age of 74. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Susan and by his loving children Catherine (Steve) McGowan, Robert (Chris), Richard (Lynne), Elizabeth (Eric) Peterson and John. Loving grandpa to Jim and Anne McGowan, Robert, Hannah, Peter, Andrew and Estella Kane, Ben, Sam and Emma Kane and Catherine Rose Peterson. Loving brother of James Patrick (Patricia) Kane and Patsy (Jim) Krebs. Visitation Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Funeral Home, from 4 PM until 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 21, 2006 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1500 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa, at 10 AM. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Tom was a graduate of Greendale High School and Marquette University. He worked in the family livestock business, before starting his own firm 45 years ago. He made many friends in the course of his meat deliveries around Milwaukee. He worked hard with courage and zest, but was never too tired to go to a Springsteen concert or to go out to hear his favorite Irish bands. He loved, and was loved by his family heartily. "The cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes".... growing up on Lincoln Place was the best experience any child could have hoped for. Mr.Kane sometimes had his livestock truck parked outside of his house at night just for a few hours and the sounds of "mooing" were wonderful to city kids. I was also honored to babysit for all of the "kiddies" and loved playing with 5 of the "best" ever. My memories include Tom kneeling down in the living room with all of us saying good night prayers before Sue and he left for the evening. Quite the cool father, and certainly a kind and wonderful man. My deepest sympathy to all, especially Mrs. Kane. You are a wonderful friend to my mom. Cheers to Tom and St. Patty's day and Kels in Portland, Org. I think they should name a beer for him:)

Pfister Hotel, Big Band music, bow tie, one of the proudest fathers in the room as you danced Astaire-like with your beautiful daughter, Liz. Years later, you said the kindest words and touched my heart at one of the toughest times in my life. You will be cherished always. My heartfelt sympathy to your whole family.

While I did not really know Tom, I worked with Sue while at Raymond School. I always found Sue to be as wonderful of a person as anyone that I've ever met. I am sure this is a reflection on Tom as well. I new Tom only through our interaction...and from the little I know, he seemed to be an individual who will be missed by all who knew him. Good Bless you Sue and your family during this very difficult time.

Tom was a great friend and a very loyal customer of Ryder Truck Rental. We have had the pleasure of knowing Tom for over 14 years.
He was one of the hardest workers and funniest people I have met. He will be greatly missed!!!!

Tom Kane will always be one of the most cherished people in my life. For a very long time, I have felt a part of the Kane family and Tom made sure that I was considered one of the brood. Even though I didn't always understand what he was telling me, the meaning behind his words was crystal clear. He was undeniably one of the kindest human beings on this earth. I will miss him.

With heartfelt sympathy..."Uncle Tom" will be greatly missed. I had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy at least five Springsteen concerts with Tom - those memories will live with me forever. He was a dear man who touched my heart in many ways.
