Think about you often. You become apart of our Big Maduscha family when you started at Immaculate Conception in the 70’s. I’ll never forget going to Fl and meeting your lovely family. ( to this day I still don’t eat cooked carrots and peas) Please keep looking over my family. Until we meet again- Love Victoria

I loved visiting with Father Vic when we would go to Wisconsin to visit Franklin's relatives. We were friends right at the start and stayed that way until his death. He loved to visit us in WY, too.

I remember Fr. Vic from Immaculate Conception. He made Funfest fun. He was so funny in the dunk tank, you had to spend a small fortune to dunk him. Fr. Schmidbauer used to pay for extra throws for kids to dunk him.
Fr. Vic was terrific. Rest in peace, Fr. Vic. I will miss you.

It is one month tomorrow that we lost our priest, son, brother and friend, Fr. Vic, Guido to some. He was loved by all and loved all! I just read the thank you note to us from his 40th anniversary. He said he was so glad that we will always share the same anniversaries and be bound together. He was ordained May 29 and we were his first marriage on June 26, 1971. He always made us feel special when he introduced us as his "first". We still cannot believe he is gone. He made our time on earth simply wunderbar as he would often say. Heaven is a better place because of him. God Bless Fr. Vic and the entire Capriolo family; especially Sam and Julia whom we were blessed to dine with on a few occasions when we visited Vic in Fondy. I know he is praying for all of us and watching and caring intently as he always has done. RIP Guido. We will never forget you, ever. Thank you for being so special and thank you for all of the memories.

The last time I spoke to Father Vic was at Sister Mary Michael Vitucci's funeral. I thanked Father Vic for the beautiful words he used to capture Sister Mary Michael's life and her dedication to faith and hard work. With his sweet and shiny eyes, he calmly said, "I am so honored to have been chosen. It was my privilege to have shared some of my memories." He smiled peacefully and wiped a tear away. I will always treasure that moment with Father Vic.
During this sad time I hope his parents, brothers and sisters can remember and cherish the gift this man was to every life he touched.

We became friends when Vic was a Deacon at St. Leo in Milwaukee, 41 years ago. He attended our wedding and we attended his ordination. Later, he came to St.Monica where we were members. He remained our faithful friend, always staying in touch. He was a kind and special priest and person. He healed many people behind the scenes. We are blessed to have known him. Our sympathy and prayers to all of his family.

Some of my favorite childhood memories involve laughing with Father Vic during my time at St. Bernard. What a wonderful, kind, and generous man he was! I will never forget the joy and peace he brought to everyone around him. May God bless the Capriolo family and keep them safe in his arms during this time of grief.

Father Vic,

Please continue to watch over us and I pray your family finds strength during these difficult times.

Father Vic always made me smile when I saw him at different events during my time in FDL. He always had that look on his face that me feel good about how he saw life in his eyes. I looked forward to hearing his jokes and his 'holyland' impressions concerning everyday life events. Miss you Father Vic, and appreciate your service you gave so graciously without judgement.

Fr Vic was a truly good Priest and man. We are all self examining our lives to make them better because of his example. Our prayers are for his family, his fellow priestly family, and our parish family. We will keep his presence alive in our hearts. Thank you dearly, Fr. Vic. God speed. Love, Kriss & Bruce Kravis

I first heard of Fr. Vic's passing through Jim Stingl's wonderful article in the paper. I met Fr. Vic while he was at IC and my former husband and I worked with him in some youth activities. He baptized 3 of my 4 children, unable to baptize the 4th cue to personal obligations. He sent a good friend to sub, feeling "responsible" he could not attend. I remember his wonderful sense of humor and love of working with youth. I saw him a couple times while he was at St. Monica's and then lost touch, but not the memories. RIP, Fr. Vic, it was an honor to have known you and been a part of your ministry.

Father Vic helped me to celebrate my first communion at St Bernerds, all of us kids loved him. He was just our size and talked to us like we were real people. He told us he had just seen the movie Titanic at the theater and I was shocked! Who knew priests went to movies? He will be dearly missed and I hope I can see his smiling face again one day

Father Vic you will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with you, knew you, and loved you. You made huge impression on a young boy from Immaculate Conception Parish. Your smile will never be forgotton.

August 27, 2012

Fr. Vic was so instrumental in embracing and welcoming Lay Ministry to the North Shore in 1986. This was a program that was not as welcomed as you might think. He was so kind,so loving, so good, and selfless in his intentions. He is the man who has helped me remain "Catholic" through some difficult times. I feel sure that this accident happened because he was deep in thought, or talking to someone else. I loved the way he cried when he laughed. He will be missed. My prayers are with his family- I am certain that he does not need them. St Capriolo.

Father Vic officiated at my Dad's funeral a little over 3 1/2 years ago, but he holds many more cherished memories than that sad day to my family.

Many times my youngest brother Alan, who was born with Cerebral palsy, would be sitting in his wheelchair on my parents home in FDL. Father Vic would always stop to visit with Alan while he was out on his bike rides. No matter how busy he was Father Vic always had time to stop and chat. Even if it was for only a few minutes, those visits meant the world to Alan. My family and I can't thank Father Vic enough for his kindness and true concern for my brother.

Our condolences go out to his family. God bless you, Father Vic!

Although we haven't lived in Fond du Lac for years, my kids went through FACES and our little family admired Fr. Vic and truly enjoyed going to Mass with him in years past. He had a huge heart & always made me smile & laugh at his jokes. He is responsible for me being such a big pro-life advocate. He will always be remembered with warmth and love.

Fr. Vic said the dinner prayer at my wedding. He adored his family, very proud of his parents, loved to tell stories about his nieces and nephews. Full of life, love, inspiration and jokes. The gates opened for him as he rode his bike into heaven. Fr Vic would of been concerned about his family at this difficult time. I pray for peace of mind and heart to all the lives Fr. Vic has touched.

Fr. Vic was such a wonderful person, besides being a wonderful priest. His faith was evident in everything he did. He was not just a priest he was a man OF God. He said Mass for us a week ago Sunday evening and as we were leaving Sacred Heart, my husband and I both thanked him for a marvelous sermon and wished him a good week. We were shocked to hear of his passing, but know that he is with his Lord and Savior. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. God bless you all. Ken & Ellie Baierl

Dear Michael, Rita & Family,
I share in your sorrow as do many in the passing of a wonderful person and priest. Vic was ever so gracious to your family, his brother priests, to the faith communities he served. Vic had a great smile and a welcoming heart which will be deeply missed. It is our faith that summons us during this difficult time to believe that Vic's "life is simply changed not ended." He was truly welcomed into the Kingdom for he was a" good and faithful servant" of our God. I hold you in prayer.

Sincerely,
Fr. Marv Knighton '75
