Dear Bob and Family,

I still treasure the many hours that your Dad and I sat side by side making music. When I became Bandmaster, he was the committed competent member that every director hopes to find. We nickname the HMMF instruments. HMMF 53B is still played and still known as "Walter's Horn". I look forward to hearing from you with an address and other contact information. My wife and I will certainly make a memorial contribution to Heritage Military Music Foundation and I suspect that there may be others.

We send our sympathy and prayers at the passing of your dear father and grandfather. We enjoyed the many years he was with us in St. Paul's Choir, Milwaukee. Rejoicing even at this sad time that Walter is forever with his Lord, singing in the heavenly choir with maybe an occasional trombone solo. In Christian hope and sympathy. St. Paul Choir

I have many fond memories of Walter. From Post Office days to playing in the letter carrier band and the 1st Brigade civil war band. Walter never had an unkind word for anyone. I will miss him.
