Mr. Bill, as I called him, started as an acquaintance, one of those “every 3 months or 3,000 miles” acquaintances. But over the decades I interacted with him, we became more than acquaintances, even friends, I think. It was always fun to walk into the shop and chit-chat with him, beyond the car things. He was honest, trustworthy and loyal (maybe to a fault). In recent years when the shop was suffering, I trusted him and he me, so we continued our visits knowing that he stood behind his word and work.
Over the decades as my kids started driving (and wrecking) cars, they all got to know Bill, or know of him. He would gladly help me pass along advice after they moved away.
He gave me his personal number at one point and he never complained when I used it like times of panic when we broke down in the middle of Arkansas, and most recently Texas to ask him for advice about our metal beast. Each time he calmed me down so I could think straight and gave me confidence to get the problem solved.
Sadly, that is how I found out he had passed, calling to arrange for my next visit. I was stunned, shocked and saddened to hear the news. I had seen him just the week before.
To the family I say, I’m envious that I didn’t have a day-to-day relationship like you did and I know your life will never be the same without him, but neither will mine, nor the rest of us “every 3 months or 3,000 miles” folks.
RIP Mr. Bill

We’ve been taking our vehicles to Bill for many years. Bill was always so good to us and took great care of our cars. We are so sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. We can only imagine what a shock this was to his family and friends. Our condolences to all of you. He will be missed.

Wow. I dont even know where to begin, Bill was such an incredibly special man that I could go on and on with memories. Bill was a caring, honest, and fair man. No matter what time of day or what was going on, he would always do his best to help whoever was in need. I had the gift of having him as my boss TWICE! He taught me everything I know about cars. But he was more then just a boss, he was a friend and a father figure. I learned so much from him and am so grateful for all he taught me. Bill sold me my car and then was always patiently available anytime it needed service. His character and customer service is one that everyone should try to emulate. Im proud to call him a friend. And I hope to see him once again in heaven. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace. Amen. Rest easy Bill. ♥

Wow. I dont even know where to begin. Bill was an incredibly special man. Im blessed to have had him in my life as long as I did. He was a mentor, a father figure, a teacher. He was my boss, twice, as well as a dear friend. No matter what time of day or what was going on in his own life, he always made time to help me with my car and anything else I wanted to chat about. He taught me everything I know about cars. He was a caring man who made every single person feel like they were the most important person to him. He even sold me my car...and then proceeded to be patiently available every time it took a crap. Bill was by far the most honest and fair man I think Ive ever met. Im saddened to hear hes no longer with us, but I have hopes Ill see him again soon in heaven.
