William Richards Obituary

William J. Jr. Richards

Age 59, of Pewaukee, passed away suddenly, the result of a heart attack, on January 14, 2021. Beloved husband of 31 years to Mary Richards (nee Gosy), he was the loving father of Will, Ann and Mike. He is survived also by his mother, Jean Richards Davis. He was a loving relative and true friend of many.

Bill obtained an undergraduate degree in 1983 from Valparaiso University, and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1987. He was a hardworking, honorable, devoted family man. His greatest pride and joy were his kids who were blessed with one of the greatest dads ever. His career included years in private law practice in Milwaukee and most recently as an attorney with the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue in Madison. His interests were those of a Renaissance man and included Valpo alumnae, the Green Bay Packers and UW Badgers, Costco "datenights," country music, shopping for cars and the latest technology. He will be missed by all who relied on him for his love, friendship, technical support, July 4th fireworks, and advice for the purchase of vehicles and appliances.

An immediate service will be private due to the pandemic. Condolences can be shared online. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Valparaiso University, Loke Hall, 1100 Campus Drive South, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.

A Memorial Celebration will take place, in the near future, once we can all safely gather together.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a mentor and friend-and a great story teller and listener. He had a keen mind that was always curious and was a true intellect. Bill possessed a wry sense of humor mixed with a practical bend on life. I will miss him dearly. Bill admired and loved his wife and adored his children. He was so proud of all of you.

I am so terribly sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was such a wonderful father, husband, son, and friend. My heart broke when I saw the news. Bill was always so kind to not only me, as a friend of his loving wife, but when he stepped up to be a positive male role model to my daughter Kayte when she was young and fatherless. There have been more acts of kindness and generosity of his time and spirit than I could ever list. I only wish I had taken the time to tell him directly what a difference he had made in our lives.
