Adrian D’Cafango Obituary

Adrian Eugene D'Cafango died March 3, 2017 in Juneau, AK. Adrian was born August 29, 1950 to Aubrey Eugene D'Cafango and Irene Jacobs. He was 67 years old and is survived by his brothers Stewart D'Cafango, Anthony D'Cafango, Gino D'Cafango, and Michael D'Cafango; his sisters Carolee D'Cafango, and Jackie D'Cafango Kookesh; his nephews Matthew Kookesh, III, and Nikolai Kookesh; his nieces Nadja Kookesh, Misty Dawn D'Cafango Pitaro, Adrianna D'Cafango , Agnes D'Cafango; and his stepson Edwell John, Jr.; his aunt Mary Austin of Anchorage, AK; he is also survived by his many cousins of Juneau, Anchorage, and the Seattle, Washington area.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 29 years Alice (John) D'Cafango and his mother Irene (Jacobs) Van Horne; his aunties Martha Benzel, and Margaret Snodgrass.

Adrian was born, and raised, and lived his entire life in Juneau, AK. He worked many jobs, but the most important work to him was commercial fishing. He worked on many fishing boats as a deckhand out of the Juneau area. He was currently working as a deckhand, and crew shrimping south of Juneau, AK.

Adrian is Luk' nax.ádi, and is from Daginaa Hit, Sheey At' ika Kwáan. His Tlingit name is Deix.udu.oo and he is a grandchild of the Kagwaantaan of Sitka, AK. His maternal grandmother is Annie Kitka Jacobs and his grandfather is John Jacobs, both of Sitka, AK. His great-grandmother is Cecilia John Kitka Gamble, and great-grandfather is Nicolas Kitka of Sitka, AK. We greatly appreciate our clan brothers and sisters, friends and our extended family for your support in this time of loss, gunalchéesh.

An informal funeral/memorial service and reception, hosted by his siblings and cousins, will be held at the Salvation Army Hall, located at 439 West Willoughby Ave, Juneau, AK, March 17, 2017 at 5:00pm. The funeral/memorial service will start at 5:00pm, with a reception to follow at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Glory Hole, 247 S. Franklin Street, Juneau, AK.
